Job Profile Summary
Oversees and provides overall guidance for the execution and maintenance of the internal corrosion control program to ensure compliance with regulations and company procedures. Provides technical leadership, training, and support to field personnel responsible for maintenance of tools and equipment, including test equipment, corrosion coupon installations, chemical injection pumps etc.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Oversee each reporting location’s internal corrosion control activities including cathodic protection design, record keeping, and corrosion control maintenance
  • Develop and implement internal corrosion control programs.
  • Provide advanced technical guidance in developing corrosion and/or pipeline integrity project planning and budgeting
  • Lead efforts in planning, material requisitions, contractor selection, documentation, and management of new projects and work orders
  • Provide overall field project management of pipeline integrity projects, including vendor training, corrosion surveys, and recommendation implementation, etc.
  • Ensures installations and/or pipeline integrity projects are in compliance with Pipeline Safety Regulations, NACE Standards, and Company procedures and standards
  • Develop and/or revise company operating procedures and engineering standards in area of expertise
  • Provides corrosion control training to operation supervisors and field personnel, including mentoring and/or verifying the qualifications of personnel to perform OQ covered tasks
  • Conducts facility inspections, reviews records and reports findings to appropriate management and departments
  • Ensures that corrosion and pipeline integrity records are kept and maintained according to DOT requirements, Company standards, and department guidelines
  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of special reports that document and/or make recommendations regarding the results of pipeline integrity assessment activities, special projects, or surveys
  • Establish and maintain effective work relationships within the department, the company, and internal customers. Maintain the professional competence, knowledge, and skills necessary to effectively complete responsibilities; enhance job knowledge and abilities by taking personal responsibility for professional development and training
  • Maintain sensitive and confidential information regarding company information
  • Interact with software developers to enhance the corrosion control data management programs
  • Responsibilities may include Department of Transportation (DOT) covered functions, including operations, maintenance, or emergency response on a pipeline. Job duties also require the employee to be alert and respond immediately to dangerous or hazardous conditions, and where impaired performance, or failure to follow safety precautions, could result in serious injury or property damage.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent formal education and job related experience

Work Experience

  • 8 years experience with and knowledge of corrosion control, gas pipeline construction and maintenance
  • Experience performing internal corrosion control functions. Experience in developing internal corrosion mitigation programs
  • Experience successfully using analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to apply math and algebraic formulas
  • Experience in use and function of tools and equipment applicable to position, including a strong background in MS Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access databases, and other applicable computer applications
  • Experience and/or extensive training related to:
    • Evaluation and recommendation of corrosion control materials, equipment and procedures
    • Resolve system deficiencies
    • Applicable company and governmental standards and regulations
    • Interpersonal/communications skills
  • Experience reading and interpreting pipeline safety regulations, company operating procedures, engineering standards constructions standards, corrosion engineering publications, accounting manuals and company procedures
  • Experience analyzing, compiling, and/or preparing various corrosion reports, analyses of company standards and practices, training materials, test results and findings, etc
  • Experience interacting, advising, and communicating effectively
