The National Security Sector is seeking a full-time Corrosion Engineer to join its F-16 Aircraft Structural Integrity Program (ASIP) engineering support team in Sunset, UT (Hill AFB).
The Corrosion Engineer will support F-16 ASIP Engineering personnel in numerous engineering tasks, including, but not limited to: subject matter expert for corrosion, chemicals, and adhesives, analyzing aircraft data, performing health of the F-16 fleet studies, and responding to engineering disposition requests. Candidate must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently with little supervision. Candidate must have good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate directly with the customer. The candidate must be willing to travel and interact with foreign representatives.

Primary Responsibilities:
Subject matter expert for structures group on chemicals related to corrosion repair, prevention and adhesion
Monitor, mine, analyze, update, and report aircraft and part inspection data
Analyze and evaluate individual and fleet-wide aircraft service life data
Mine and analyze stress, crack, fracture, corrosion, and failure data
Recommend inspections, retirement thresholds, and other parameters impacting aircraft service life
Perform studies as directed by F-16 ASIP Engineering personnel
Provide engineering analysis and repair recommendations to F-16 maintainers through engineering disposition requests
Provide engineering expertise to support and maintain F-16 structural integrity
Perform and evaluate risk analyses
Perform other engineering related tasks as required
Collaborate with military, civilian, and contracted engineers in performing all the above tasks
Update and maintain the F-16 Corrosion Prevention and Control Plan
Assist in organizing the F-16 Corrosion Technical Interchange meeting and Corrosion Prevention Advisory Board
Identify and qualify modern materials and coatings to replace legacy materials with higher performance and more environmentally friendly products
Support depot and field users in corrosion prevention and repair processes
Required Experience, Skills, and Education:
B. S. degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Chemical, or Metallurgical Engineering, or Material Science and Engineering with 8+ years relevant experience. Additional years of experience, training, and/or certifications may be considered in lieu of education requirement.
5+ years engineering with experience in chemicals related to corrosion prevention and adhesion, on aircraft.
US Citizen: Currently possess an active DoD Secret clearance.
Thorough understanding of mechanics of materials concepts
Thorough understanding of stress, strain, cracking, metal fatigue, and related mechanism
Knowledge of corrosion, fretting, other environmentally assisted degradation, galvanic corrosion fatigue, and failure mechanisms
Experience using military standards, military performance specifications and qualified product lists
Preferred Experience, Skills, and Education:
M. S. degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Chemical, or Metallurgical Engineering, or Material Science and Engineering
Thorough understanding of corrosion mitigation strategies used in aerospace
Prior experience with F-16 structures and programs
Prior experience using the F-16 ASIP Portal tools.
Familiarity with a USAF Aircraft Structural Integrity Program
Strong grasp of Microsoft Excel, Word and Office software
Understanding of standard Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) techniques used on aircraft structures for applications related to corrosion and/or fatigue cracks

Pay Range:Pay Range $104,650.00 - $189,175.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
