It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. Description of Work

This position reports directly to a Correctional Lieutenant III and/or the Correctional Housing Unit Manager at a multi-custody female correctional facility and provides first-line supervision for Correctional Officer II’s. Other responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Key Duties Included:
- Provide supervision for subordinate staff, conducting shift line-up, making shift assignments, and inspecting all personnel to determine if they are physically and mentally capable of assuming an assigned post.
- Complete, review, and maintain time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, performance evaluations, and administrative forms.
- Account for persons and funds to ensure that all assigned equipment is operationally ready.
- Assign lower-level custody staff to a particular area or post, overseeing officer activities and performance and ensuring that the custody, security and welfare of offenders is maintained.
- Arrange work schedules to ensure shift coverage, implementing operational procedures and ensuring rules and regulations are followed according to policy.

Salary Range: $39,244.00 - $68,679.00

About The Division of Institutions:

The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.
