CME Group’s Corporate Strategy & Business Development department is at the forefront of steering the corporation's strategic trajectory with a keen focus on organic and inorganic growth initiatives. This team works closely with senior leadership across all departments (e.g. Sales, Business Line Management, Technology, Clearing, Legal, Research & Development, FP&A, etc.) to identify short- and long-term growth opportunities, as well as solve critical business challenges.
The intern in this role will assist in the development of short- and long-term strategies for various business areas within the organization by researching, analyzing, and compiling qualitative and quantitative information in a concise and high-quality manner for presentations and discussions with senior management and business leaders.
The Corporate Strategy & Business Development Intern will be expected to take initiative, work independently, and participate in cross-functional teams to produce high-quality work.
Responsibilities:
Assist in researching multiple topics for strategic initiatives: Support market research, consolidate findings, and work with senior team members to propose recommendations that shape company and product strategy through presentations and detailed analyses.
Investigate and provide analyses of competitors, partners, business models, market sizing, and industry trends.
Assist in deriving strategic conclusions and recommendations by synthesizing qualitative and quantitative information.
Assist in other ad hoc projects, including exploratory landscape and market analyses, strategic sourcing pipeline, and competitor profile benchmarking.
Develop understanding of key products, services and business functions within CME Group.
Skills / Software Requirements:
Strong analytical skills essential; financial modeling experience helpful but not required.
Strong Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint or Google Workspace skills required.
Familiarity with S&P Capital IQ and/or Bloomberg terminal.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Self-starter with the ability to work/collaborate effectively within a team.
Motivated to learn more about, and potentially pursue a career in, the financial services industry.
Relevant coursework (e.g., finance, strategy, data analysis) is a plus.
Education:
Minimum GPA of 3.0
