At the heart of CJK Group is an entrepreneurial spirit, a commitment to operational excellence, and a drive to provide the industries we serve with solutions that go far beyond any single capability.  We are committed to thoughtful growth through the acquisition and development of best-in-class businesses, ensuring our partners have access to exceptional quality, innovation, and service across a diverse platform.  We are searching for a Corporate Payroll Manager to provide leadership, project planning and organization to multiple diverse projects of varying size and scope as well overseeing bi-weekly payroll processing for all locations.  This position reports to the CJK Group VP of Corporate Finance and will work closely with the senior payroll accountant and HR leadership in performing their duties


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assess current pay policies and practices of newly acquired companies and align with Corporate policies and practices which may include gaining an understanding of the current systems used by newly acquired companies.
  • Act as project leader in the implementation and set up of newly acquired companies in time and attendance system as well as payroll system.
  • Oversee and assist with the configuration and testing of the payroll and time and attendance systems.
  • Act as liaison with the 401k provider including processing of all related reports, changes as well as verifying annual census.
  • Continue standardization of current and future payrolls
  • Hire, develop, mentor and conduct performance evaluations for direct reports.
  • Monitor for optimum performance of the accounting function related to the processing and accounting for all aspects of payroll.
  • Act within scope of authority and consistent with Corporate objectives, guidelines, policies and practices
  • Supervise and back up all regular duties associated with the preparation, generation, and distribution of the payrolls, delegate appropriate duties to department employees.
  • Act as liaison with the payroll processing company for problem resolution and error correction
  • Serve as administrator for time & attendance system to oversee proper compliance and accuracy of payrolls.
  • Oversee the resolution of payroll questions, issues and adjustments and implement process improvements to avoid the need for future adjustments.
  • Prepare and/or oversee the preparation of payroll-related analysis, statements and projections as needed including all year end payroll adjustments.
  • Oversee month-end close process and preparation for year-end audit.
  • Prepare various monthly, quarterly and annual reports including numerous ad hoc reports as requested by management.
  • Provide ongoing support to all levels of the organization.
  • Provide open communications to both employees and management.
  • Complete other tasks as defined by management.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Proficient in ADP WFN and ADP WFM
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Proficient in advance functions of Excel
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • A sense of urgency and ability to work under pressure handling multiple tasks at one time
  • Able to work independently and organize time effectively while handling changing priorities.
  • Able to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

 

Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or similar experience preferred
  • CPP preferred
  • Supervisory experience in a payroll environment is required.
  • 10+ years’ experience managing a payroll department for a large employer with multiple locations and states.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
