The Corporate practice offers unique blend of particular specialisation across a range of key sectors including financial services, IERP (Infrastructure, Energy, Resources, and Projects), and life sciences.
We are looking for a full-time paralegal to support a Hong Kong-based partner and his team which helps global clients across a broad spectrum of trade issues, including compliance with cross-border export controls and sanctions investigations, tariff and customs issues, sanctions and export control risk management in Hong Kong IPOs, and managing geopolitical risk.
Key responsibilities:
- Advise clients on international standards and legal matters related to new investment projects, sanctions, cross-border transactions, joint ventures, and IPOs
- Draft, review, and translate documents in English and Chinese
- Conduct legal research, preliminary due diligence, and document review across various jurisdictions
- Manage clients' transactions and ongoing legal requirements proactively.
- Coordinate with third parties, including bidding agencies, certification agents, government offices, and external service providers
- Participate in business development activities, such as writing articles, conducting seminars, preparing know-how materials and legal updates
- Perform additional duties as appropriate
Skills and Experience
- Business-level command (written and speaking) in English and Mandarin a must
- A law degree from any jurisdiction
- Prior experience working at an international law firm or within an in-house legal team advantageous
- Strong resilience and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Willingness to learn, flexibility, and the ability to exercise sound judgment
- Exceptional research skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office is a must
