LGT Wealth Management was formed around a clear and uncompromising vision – to bring global best practice in building institutional quality investment portfolios to Australian clients.

With a shared passion for building an uncompromised business – we created something new from the ground up. A chance to leave behind the things that weren’t working, while enhancing the things that were. Our authentic and personalised client-first commitment. Our entrepreneurial spirit. Our focus in best-in-class advice. And our intimate understanding of the Australian private wealth landscape.

In 2022 we became a part of the LGT Group, who shared our entrepreneurial spirit, long-term approach and private-ownership model. Today, with the global expertise, stability, and capability of LGT behind us, we can work without being reliant on markets or margins, with a singular focus on giving our clients the advice and deep expertise they need for generations to come.

Join one of Australia's leading private wealth management firms as Corporate Legal Counsel, partnering with senior leaders across the organisation to provide strategic legal and regulatory advice on some of the firm's most important business initiatives.

Reporting to the Head of Legal & Regulatory Affairs and working within a collaborative team of four, you'll play a trusted adviser role across the full spectrum of legal matters impacting the business. From complex lending arrangements and investment management agreements to regulatory change, corporate transactions, governance and commercial contracts, you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact across the entire organisation.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced financial services lawyer who enjoys variety, autonomy and partnering closely with executives to solve complex business challenges in a highly respected global wealth management environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic legal and regulatory advice across a wide range of financial services, wealth management and corporate matters.

  • Support lending and financing activities, including credit, margin lending, mortgage and other bespoke client arrangements.

  • Review, negotiate and draft sophisticated commercial agreements, investment management agreements (IMAs), supplier contracts, technology agreements and transaction documentation.

  • Advise on regulatory obligations including AFSL requirements, Corporations Act obligations, AML/CTF, privacy and governance matters.

  • Partner with executives and business leaders on strategic projects, organisational initiatives and business transformations.

  • Support corporate governance activities, board and committee matters, company secretarial requirements and risk management frameworks.

  • Provide legal guidance on asset management, investment products, capital markets activities and cross-border business arrangements.

  • Manage relationships with external counsel and drive commercially practical outcomes for the business.

About You

You are an experienced financial services lawyer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys being a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders.

You'll bring:

  • 10+ years' post-qualification legal experience gained within a leading law firm, financial institution or a combination of both.

  • Deep financial services expertise, with exposure across regulated environments such as wealth management, banking, asset management, investment management, private banking or financial advice.

  • Strong knowledge of financial services regulation and a broad understanding of AFSL obligations.

  • Experience advising on credit, lending or margin lending matters, with exposure to non-licensed or regulated lending highly regarded.

  • Corporate, commercial and litigation experience, with the ability to navigate complex legal issues and provide pragmatic, commercially focused solutions.

  • Experience reviewing and negotiating investment management agreements and other sophisticated client and commercial arrangements.

  • Outstanding stakeholder management skills, with confidence engaging directly with executives and senior business leaders.

  • A highly autonomous and self-directed approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work independently.

Why You'll Love This Role

  • Breadth unlike most in-house legal roles – gain exposure across lending, investments, asset management, governance, regulatory affairs, commercial contracts, strategic projects and corporate matters.

  • Direct executive engagement – partner daily with senior leaders and play an influential role in key business decisions.

  • True business partnering opportunity – move beyond pure legal advisory work and become a trusted strategic adviser to the organisation.

  • High-impact work – support significant initiatives across a leading private wealth management business with both local and global reach.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a senior lawyer seeking greater variety, visibility and influence within a sophisticated wealth management business.
