Altenar is looking for a Corporate IT Systems Administrator forming part of the global Corporate IT team providing end-user IT support in our Malta office and some remote support to employees in other Altenar office locations where required (such as Isle of Man, Athens and Russia, as well as to remote workers).  The candidate will also work on global Corporate IT projects.  The candidate must be passionate about troubleshooting, very organized and responsible, and enjoy solving people’s IT queries.


We expect you to have
:

  • Solid understanding of computer system hardware as a power user.
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Windows and Apple MacOS operating systems in a domain-based environment.
  • Experience in troubleshooting the above.
  • Solid understanding of basic TCP/IP networking, IPv4 addressing and Domain Name System (DNS) as used internally besides publicly.
  • Appreciation of key IT security concepts.
  • Good understanding and experience with multi-factor authentication systems, and Identity Management systems based on LDAP, Kerberos and OAuth2.
  • Comfortable with basic computer hardware troubleshooting (within vendor warranty specifications.
  • Comfortable with setup/relocation of video conferencing and telephony equipment (non-specialist).
  • Able to coordinate vendors and service providers and able to define basic specifications for procurement. 
  • Calm, organized, patient disposition, and happy to work with other technical users in a respectful environment.
  • Technical diploma in a related field.
  • Good communication skills (spoken/written) in English.


It is nice to have also  :

  • Experience with deployment, device management and asset management tools.
  • Experience with the administration of Google Gsuite products.
  • Experience with the administration of Atlassian JIRA and Confluence products and plugins.
  • Knowledge and experience with the implementation and administration of CRM tools like Zendesk, Salesforce.
  • Experience with Internet service and telecommunications equipment and associated protocols such as PPPoE, TCP/IP, VoIP.
  • Experience with IPSEC and SSL VPN remote access configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of office electrical distribution and uninterrupted power supply as used in that context.
  • Specialist vendor hardware training or certification (Dell / HP / Lenovo / Cisco / Fortigate).
  • Industry certification in Microsoft Windows administration, Linux, Apple Mac OS.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing direct IT support to end-users (employees), logging and documenting all events and changes in our ticketing system.
  • Proposing improvement and working on associated tasks.
  • Ensuring timely resolution of blockers to the operation.
  • Participating in response to IT Security incidents.
  • Supporting resolution of issues with cloud-based/outsourced IT services such as HR systems, CRM systems.
  • Resolving or working with other teams such as the Infrastructure Team or the Office Managers to resolve office infrastructure issues.
  • Helping with compliance to ISO 27001, GDPR and other laws (which may include management of documentation and records related to IT).
  • Escalating concerns to management to work on solutions.
  • Working with little supervision and maintaining regular communication with IT leadership and remote colleagues.
  • Having a strong sense of duty and exercising duty of care beyond the immediate fix.
  • Being trustworthy and accountable in the handling of company data and physical assets.
