Overview of the position
The Corporate IT Business Intelligence Manager is responsible for managing the Business Intelligence team, ensuring that the solutions which comprise the Business Intelligence platform support the business, that these solutions are developed in line with best practice, and creating and delivering the business intelligence roadmap.
Enabling the Team
Managing the Business Intelligence team to enable it as follows:
- Bringing focus:
- Removing blockers so the team aren't distracted or prevented from doing their work
- Acting as decision owner - making quick, "safe to try" decisions to keep the team moving
- Taking responsibility for the admin work needed to keep a team running
- Protecting the team from outside influences and distractions
- Facilitating communication between the Business Intelligence team and key business stakeholders, and other teams within IT
- Encouraging and supporting the team's continuous self-reflection and self-improvement.
- Encouraging and providing space for the team to take the initiative
- Promoting high quality code
- Set the team's roadmap and direction and be responsible for project management
- Facilitating the majority of the team's ceremonies and meetings
- Coaching the team on Agile and Scrum best practices
- Facilitating high quality communication between team members
- Establishing a culture of trust and excellence within their team
- Working with the team to clarify requirements and help them understand the business side of the product
- Coordinating with the team to make sure that they understand the requirements for each project
Enabling the Individual
Enabling individuals in the Business Intelligence team through
- Coaching and mentoring individuals to grow and develop skills
- Providing regular feedback to individuals and giving them space to provide their feedback
- Undertaking regular performance reviews
- Helping individuals to understand their career path and progress in their career
Enabling the Solution
Lead the architectural design of the Business Intelligence platform.
- Act as the ‘go to’ expert for the team on all aspects of the Business Intelligence platform
- Prioritizing development backlog items based on business value, time needed to complete, and order in which they were created
- Reviewing prototypes or other proofs of concept for feasibility before allowing them to move to the next stage of development
- Verifying that the finished solution meets the needs of customers by managing quality and usability tests or reviewing customer feedback
Enabling the Business
Work with key stakeholders to develop and translate their data knowledge requirements into operational business intelligence insights.
- Ensure a balance between quality and velocity so that optimum business value is delivered as early as possible
- Engage with stakeholders to ensure that there is a prioritized business intelligence vision and roadmap that meets their business objectives.
- Regularly communicate project status, estimation of completion to production, and roadblocks to key stakeholders

Skills Required
- Experience managing a Business Intelligence team
- Proven ability to lead BI platform architecture and design
- Experience translating business requirements into BI insights and roadmaps
- Skilled in Agile and Scrum practices and coaching teams
- Project management experience including backlog prioritization and delivery tracking
- Experience driving code quality, testing, and usability validation for BI solutions
- Coaching, mentoring, and conducting performance reviews for team members
