This role is an Australia-based, fully work-from-home position, with access to co-working spaces in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Please note: This is a 6 month max term contract. 

Job Description

The Corporate Development and FP&A Consultant will work across a range of corporate development and financial modelling projects - from supporting the senior executive on a range of corporate development and other strategic level corporate initiatives through to assisting with group wide business forecasting and planning. Utilising a strong background in transaction services, investment banking / corporate advisory and/or financial planning & analysis, this role will  project manage various significant corporate development projects, including M&A, capital management initiatives, and take a hands-on role in improving existing forecasting models.

Key Responsibilities

  • Corporate development and strategic initiatives

    • In conjunction with the VP Finance: 
      • Lead the process for corporate development projects (this may include acquisition, investment or other engagement such as corporate structuring) ensuring a professionally executed and seamless project, including any post-transaction integration planning and implementation.
      • Assist in various aspects of corporate development projects as necessary: financial modelling and valuation, due diligence, negotiation and closing, and post transaction integration. 
      • Assist with capital management priorities such as capital structuring
      • Project manage the process, engaging with other internal and external stakeholders. 
      • Work across the business with senior leaders and other key staff to provide advice and support on progressing corporate development projects.
  • Financial reporting and analysis

    • Support the VP Finance and GM Planning and Performance to: 
      • Further enhance existing detailed forecasting models, ensuring consistency and accuracy in forecasting processes.
      • Prepare and analyse periodic financial reports comparing actual results to budgets and forecasts, provide insightful commentary on key drivers of variances and identify areas for improvement.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline. MBA or equivalent qualification is a plus.
  • 5-10+ years experience in: 
    • Deal orientated team (TS/TAS, M&A), or investment banking / corporate advisory within a professional services setting; and / or 
    • Corporate development or FP&A within a data-rich corporate setting.
  • Experience in project managing corporate level projects (such as M&A and ECM transactions).
  • Strong understanding of financial principles, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, with attention to detail and a commitment to continuous improvement, together with deep proficiency in 3-way modelling.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
