Job DescriptionThe Corporate Counsel - Employment Director provides strategic and practical legal counsel on employment-related matters across the organization. This role supports the management of employment litigation, agency matters, audits, and compliance initiatives while partnering closely with internal stakeholders across Crew Relations, Crew Standards, Benefits, and Compensation. The Director plays a key role in mitigating risk, strengthening compliance, and enabling informed employment decisions in a fast-growing environment.
Your Impact and Responsibilities:
- Manage employment litigation and arbitration matters, including pre-litigation issues such as federal and state agency charges and demand letters
- Partner with and manage outside counsel on employment litigation, investigations, and compliance matters
- Provide ongoing, practical legal advice to internal partners, including Crew Relations, Crew Standards, Benefits, and Compensation
- Draft, review, and update Crew-facing employment policies, procedures, and related communications, as appropriate
- Conduct internal employment-related audits in partnership with internal teams, including wage and hour compliance and other regulatory areas
- Support responses to agency inquiries, audits, and investigations
- Identify emerging employment law risks and provide guidance to support proactive risk mitigation
Travel Requirements:
- Up to 5%
- 5-7 years of employment law experience (law firm, in-house, or a combination; in-house experience not required)
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school with active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- Strong working knowledge of employment laws and regulations at the federal and state level
- Ability to manage highly confidential information with discretion, accuracy, and timeliness
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to provide clear, practical guidance
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple, shifting priorities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
