Why is this Role Essential?

Corporate Counsel serves as a key legal partner to Human Resources and business leaders, with a primary focus on employment law, employee relations, and workplace investigations. This role provides practical legal guidance on complex employment matters, helps mitigate employment-related risk, and supports fair, consistent, and defensible people practices across Concerto's growing multi-state workforce. The role also provides general corporate legal and contract support as needed.


What Will You Do?

  • Serve as a key legal partner to Human Resources, providing practical employment law guidance on employee relations, performance management, discipline, terminations, accommodations, leaves of absence, wage and hour matters, and workplace policies.
  • Lead and support internal workplace investigations, including allegations of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, misconduct, policy violations, and other employee concerns; provide guidance on findings, documentation, and appropriate next steps.
  • Advise HR and business leaders on federal, state, and local employment laws and help navigate employment matters across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Partner with HR and outside immigration counsel to support employees requiring employment-based immigration sponsorship, including H-1B visas and other applicable visa categories, by coordinating documentation, supporting petition processes, monitoring key deadlines, and advising on employment-related immigration matters.
  • Draft, review, edit, and negotiate a variety of legal contracts and agreements, including employment agreements, separation and release agreements, confidentiality agreements, independent contractor agreements, vendor/service agreements, NDAs, and other business contracts.
  • Review contract terms to identify potential legal and business risks and recommend revisions, protections, or alternative language.
  • Draft, review, and update employee handbooks, workplace policies, offer letter language, employment-related templates, and other HR documentation.
  • Partner with HR on sensitive or complex employee matters, helping ensure decisions are legally sound, appropriately documented, and consistently applied.
  • Provide legal guidance related to employee complaints, demand letters, agency charges, and employment claims, coordinating with outside counsel when necessary.
  • Proactively identify employment-related legal risks and recommend practical solutions that balance legal requirements with the needs of the business.
  • Develop and maintain standardized legal agreements, contract templates, and employment-related documents to improve consistency and efficiency.
  • Provide day-to-day legal counsel to leaders across the organization and support additional corporate legal matters as business needs arise.

What’s Required?

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in Illinois.
  • 3-5 years of legal experience, preferably with meaningful employment law experience in a law firm and/or in-house environment.
  • Strong experience advising on employee relations, internal investigations, employment agreements, workplace policies, discipline, terminations, and other employment matters.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state employment and labor laws, including wage and hour, leave and accommodation, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and related workplace requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


Compensation:

$120,000 - $155,000 annually
