Northrop Grumman’s Legal and Contracts Department is currently seeking a Corporate Counsel, Cybersecurity who will be responsible for providing expert legal support to the Company in the DC metropolitan area.  This attorney will report to the Assistant General Counsel, Intellectual Property, Technology and Information Law. 

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with and providing strategic counseling to legal colleagues, business partners, and management on a wide range of complex cybersecurity law issues

  • Advising on cybersecurity requirements such as controls and reporting in government contracts and agreements with suppliers and other third parties

  • Supporting company frameworks and processes aligned with cyber legal and regulatory requirements for safeguarding sensitive data and information systems, compliance with standards and incident response

  • Providing thought leadership and supporting development and implementation of enterprise-level strategic cybersecurity initiatives

  • Advising on issues related to cybersecurity law including privacy and information security

  • Monitoring developments in policy, legal and regulatory requirements in cybersecurity, engaging with industry groups and customers, and advising leadership and business partners on best practices

  • Developing and conducting enterprise-wide training on cybersecurity topics

We are seeking a candidate with the following background:

  • Highly motivated individual with strong analytical and process-development skills, clear and strategic thinking, exceptional judgment, sense of accountability, integrity and a record of managing complex cybersecurity matters

  • Ability to provide accurate, timely, and pragmatic advice

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work in a collaborative and inclusive environment, with the ability to engage and motivate others through thought leadership

  • Strong time-management and organizational skills, responsiveness, and a demonstrated ability to balance multiple competing priorities

Basic Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor degree and Bachelor’s degree

  • Active state bar membership

  • At least 8 years’ cybersecurity experience in a law firm, government, or as in-house counsel

  • Experience in negotiating cybersecurity-related terms in government contracts and commercial agreements

  • Experience working closely with other lawyers, cybersecurity professionals and business leaders on cybersecurity issues

  • Candidates must have the ability to obtain a DoD Secret level security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Significant experience with U.S. government contract cyber regulations (FAR and DFARS) and complex issues relating to information security

  • Experience in privacy law

  • Active DoD Secret level security clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $233,300.00 - $335,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
