In this role, you will report to the VP Deputy General Counsel and serve as a trusted advisor within our Commercial legal team. This individual will partner closely with our Commercial & Industrial and Global Supply Chain business groups. You will provide primary transactional support to these groups across a range of transactions, including sales, distribution and procurement.

 

This is a highly visible position with the opportunity to collaborate directly with senior leadership and cross-functional teams, playing a key role in advancing strategic initiatives. This position is based at our headquarters in Waukesha, WI

Major Responsibilities

  • Engage and build relationships with the business to act as "front-line" legal counsel and provide high-quality, pragmatic legal and business advice regarding a wide range of commercial issues.

  • Draft and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including sales, purchasing, licensing and service agreements.

  • Assess proposed commercial transactions and develop deal structures to minimize legal and business risks.

  • Think strategically, help create and execute plans to achieve both short-term and long-term results and communicate effectively with key legal and business stakeholders.

  • Develop and implement continuous improvement processes, templates, and training to support the work of the role.

  • Support the implementation of the Company's contract lifecycle management solution.

Minimum Job Requirements

Education

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school

Certification / License

  • Licensed to practice law in the United States and a member in good standing with a state bar

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of commercial law experience with a major law firm or corporate legal department

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Excellent negotiation and legal drafting skills.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • High work capacity and passion for the job, in addition to high ethical and moral standards.

  • Demonstrated ability to identify risk, problem-solve, and offer creative solutions to mitigate risk.

  • Ability to manage and prioritize work from multiple stakeholders.

  • Ability to work across organizational, functional and geographic boundaries to drive business strategies, communications and multi-geography projects and teams in a matrixed environment.

Preferred Job Requirements

Work Experience

  • Analyzing data privacy issues within the context of commercial agreements.

  • Working for a global manufacturer or publicly-traded company.

  • Working on international teams in a matrixed environment.

Office Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls.  The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  On occasion, the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders.  The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
