Job Description

Job Overview

The Controlling and Accounting Manager role is part of the Corporate Controlling Team and is responsible to effectively manage several corporate cost centers, ensuring that cost control and all accounting aspects are accurate. This role will work closely with key corporate functions to provide strategic financial support, perform cost analyses, and facilitate financial planning and forecasting.

This role is instrumental in managing budget adherence and cost efficiency across corporate departments, offering insights and recommendations that align with Amcor’s corporate financial goals. The role requires partnering with functional and divisional leaders, including SMT member, as well as close collaboration with shared services resources (GL accounting, payroll, accounts payable, treasury, cash and banking) and other corporate finance functions (Global Treasury, Tax, Corporate Planning & Analysis, External Reporting teams).

Job Dimensions

The role reports to the Senior Manager, Corporate Finance and is part of the wider Management Reporting (Group Controlling Planning & Analysis) organization. Primary focus will be cost controlling and decision making support for functional leaders, planning and analysis activities combined with management reporting while ensuring that US GAAP accounting requirements are fully met.

The role will be based in Evansville (IN) or Oshkosh (WI) and is a full time permanent position.

Principal Accountabilities

Corporate Cost controlling and Finance Business Partnering

  • Proactively manage functional cost performance by monitoring spend against budget and forecast, identifying risks and opportunities early, and driving corrective actions to achieve financial targets.
  • Monthly forecast preparation ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Develop a deep understanding of the underlying cost base, including vendor spend, cost categories, and project expenditures, to provide value-added analysis beyond actuals reporting.
  • Identify OPPs by challenging spending patterns, partnering with Procurement and functional/ divisional leaders, and tracking the realization of cost-saving opportunities.
  • Manage collaboration and finance business partnering with Corporate functions and act as primary point of contact
  • Coordinate the planning/OP cycle to make sure all inputs are collected and analyzed timely and submission deadlines are met.
  • Support in developing and maintaining reports and templates for the budget, forecast, data loads, MRPs/ MMRs, ensuring data integrity and accuracy
  • Lead project-related financial analysis and manage project budgeting and forecasting (e.g. CAPEX).

Month-end Reporting and Analysis for corporate entities

  • Support monthly and quarterly closings and management reporting of significant US management entities, reviewing and validating EBIT and cash flow
  • Manage Corporate Cost submission and reporting for legacy Berry US entities and support the overall Global corporate results consolidation
  • Lead cash flow forecast preparation and submission for the US entities, in particular implementing a process for cash flow forecasting and reporting for legacy Berry entities
  • Manage day-to-day queries from the shared resources working on corporate entities and challenge processes to identify opportunities for optimization (e.g. cost allocations)

Compliance

  • Balance sheet reviews and reconciliations of US entities in charge
  • SOX Compliance and internal controls monitoring
  • Manage Cash Flow actuals and forecasting and implement monthly processes for Cash Flow reporting in the US (mainly for legacy Berry entities)

Ad hoc Projects

  • Provide support and contribute to ad hoc projects related to the area of responsibilities (e.g. optimization of cash flow forecasting)
  • Contribute to projects related to significant transactions (Tax restructuring, M&A, etc.)

Qualifications/Requirements

  • At least 7 years of working experience in finance, with proven hands-on involvement in accounting, controlling and monthly end-to-end reporting processes
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance or Accounting
  • Accounting qualification (CA, CPA, ACCA) preferred
  • Has people management, line management or supervisoryexperience
  • Experience in Consolidation and FP&A
  • HFM experience strongly preferred / SAP FI/CO an advantage
  • Strong Excel knowledge required
  • Ability to manage ambiguity, and proven problem-solving capabilities
  • Fluency in written and spoken English

Skills Required

  • At least 7 years of finance experience with hands-on accounting, controlling, and end-to-end monthly reporting experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting
  • Accounting qualification such as CA, CPA, or ACCA
  • People management, line management, or supervisory experience
  • Experience in consolidation and FP&A
  • HFM experience
  • SAP FI/CO experience
  • Strong Microsoft Excel knowledge
