About this role:
This role is an opportunity to bring your global experience and leadership of full-cycle accounting to build, coach and develop a high-performing team to fully own all aspects of the company’s corporate accounting function. We are looking for an energetic strategic thinker who is a problem solver, relationship builder and constantly seeks to learn and grow his/her and team’s capabilities as our business scales.
The Corporate Controller is responsible for building scalable accounting operations of the company, ensuring timeliness and accuracy of financial reporting and filings in compliance with accounting standards and statutory requirements, evolving internal controls to maintain a strong governance framework, overseeing ERP system utilization and automation. Reporting to the CFO, the ideal candidate will possess exceptional hands-on leadership, communication and projection management skills with a demonstrated track record of building high performing teams.
How you will make a difference:
- Lead the operations of the Accounting Department across revenue, billing, inventory, financial reporting, payroll, audit, tax and statutory compliance filings
- Drive excellence in the monthly close and consolidations processes across multiple entities globally while ensuring that the reported results comply with accounting standards and policies and procedures are followed timely and efficiently
- Play a key role in our ERP administration and evolution, developing a strategic view of how systems, processes and data enable efficiency in accounting operations and result in improved decision making
- Work with external auditors and provide needed information for the annual audit
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements across Canada and the US, and oversee third party accounting and tax filings globally
- Maintain and document company’s accounting policies and procedures
- Implement strong governance and internal controls
- Manage cash and banking processes while building cash forecasting capability and instilling metrics driven approach to working capital management
- Develop, hire and retain the accounting talent
Key requirements and experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required, Canadian CPA experience a must
- 10+ years of accounting experience in a fast-paced environment
- Big 4 experience preferred, 5+ years management experience
- Experience with SOX compliance or implementing internal controls frameworks
- Sophisticated depth of communication, analytical, project management and time management skills
- Ability to multi-task efficiently, collaborate cross functionally and lead and inspire accounting team in a hybrid work environment
- Maintain close attention to detail and strict deadlines
- Advanced knowledge of Epicor (preferred), NetSuite or similar ERP, and familiarity with leading accounting technology solutions
