Job Description

Summary:

The Corporate Controller leads MCG's corporate accounting organization and is accountable for timely, accurate, and GAAP-compliant consolidated financial statements across all operating units and legal entities. This leader owns the monthly, quarterly, and annual close; drives consistency in accounting policies and processes across the enterprise; leads the external audit; and partners with operating unit finance teams, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and Internal Controls to deliver high-quality financial information that supports decision-making as the company scales.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead the consolidated monthly, quarterly, and annual close, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Drive a faster, more predictable close through standardized calendars, checklists, reconciliations, and automation across all operating units.
  • Oversee corporate accounting functions, including general ledger, consolidations, intercompany, fixed assets, leases, payroll and benefits, accruals, and account reconciliations.
  • Lead the strategic centralization of accounts payable operations, designing and embedding robust internal controls - including strict segregation of duties (SoD), automated matching workflows, and rigorous fraud-prevention protocols - to scale the function and secure corporate cash disbursements.
  • Establish governance over Travel & Expense programs, implement compliance monitoring, corporate card program controls, and policy enforcement metrics to optimize spend and eliminate duplicate or fraudulent claims.
  • Own the annual external audit and quarterly reviews; serve as the primary point of contact with external auditors and deliver clean, well-supported audit results.
  • Establish, document, and maintain enterprise accounting policies and position papers, partnering with Technical Accounting on complex transactions (revenue recognition under ASC 606, business combinations, leases, and equity).
  • Provide oversight and guidance to operating unit controllers and accounting teams to ensure consistent application of policies and a strong, scalable accounting foundation.
  • Lead accounting for acquisitions, including opening balance sheet, purchase accounting support, and integration of acquired entities into MCG's close, chart of accounts, and systems.
  • Partner with Internal Controls team to maintain an effective control environment over financial reporting and remediate identified deficiencies.
  • Support lender and covenant reporting in partnership with Treasury, and tax provision and compliance processes in partnership with Tax.
  • Champion ERP, consolidation, and reconciliation system enhancements to improve data quality, scalability, and efficiency.
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing corporate accounting team, attracting and retaining strong talent as the organization grows.

Attributes:

  • Have Humanity: You develop your people and treat partners across the operating units with respect. You build a close process that is sustainable for the team.
  • Be Transparent: You present the numbers as they are and raise accounting issues promptly. You explain the story behind the results in plain language.
  • Drive Innovation: You continuously improve close, reporting, and reconciliation processes. You use standardization and automation to make the work faster and more accurate.
  • Be Resilient: You stay calm and focused through close deadlines, audit pressure, and acquisition integrations. You help your team do the same when the workload peaks.
  • Always Reliable: You deliver accurate financial statements on schedule, every period. You make sure leadership, auditors, and lenders can rely on the numbers.
  • Grit: You take ownership of hard problems and dig into the details. You see remediation and process improvements through to completion.
