Job Summary

The Corporate Controller leads Goosehead's core accounting function, reporting to the VP, Finance. This role owns general accounting, revenue accounting, financial reporting, technical accounting, and tax, and is accountable for the accuracy of the accounting underlying Goosehead's financial reporting as a publicly traded company.

The Corporate Controller leads the monthly close and the quarterly external reporting cycle, owns execution of the external audit, maintains internal controls over financial reporting, and sets the company's accounting policy framework. This is a hands-on role: the Corporate Controller builds a strong accounting team, stays close to Goosehead's growth and evolving business, and brings sound technical judgment — able to both understand and clearly communicate how the business affects accounting and how accounting decisions affect how results look.

The ideal candidate is a CPA with public company experience; a track record of developing accounting talent and building processes that scale; and a bias toward improving process, controls, and reporting rather than maintaining the status quo.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Own and lead general accounting, revenue accounting, and technical accounting, ensuring accurate, complete, and timely financial records

• Lead the monthly close process and drive continuous improvement in close timeliness, accuracy, and scalability as the business grows

• Own Goosehead's external financial reporting as an SEC filer, directing the preparation and filing of the 10-Q, 10-K, and 8-K, and ensuring compliance with SEC and U.S. GAAP requirements

• Set technical accounting positions and maintain the company's accounting policy framework, proactively monitoring and implementing new accounting standards

• Own oversight of the company's tax accounting and compliance, including coordination with outside tax providers

• Own execution of the external audit relationship, and maintain a strong internal controls environment over financial reporting (ICFR) in coordination with internal audit

• Direct how accounting and reporting systems (e.g., NetSuite, Workiva) are configured, used, and controlled to meet the company's accounting requirements, partnering with Financial Systems on execution

• Identify and communicate the accounting implications of new products, contracts, and revenue arrangements as they emerge

• Recruit, coach, and develop a high-performing accounting team, building depth, technical capability, and bench strength across the function

• Partner closely with FP&A, Finance Operations, and business leaders to ensure accounting outcomes reflect business reality, and advise on the financial reporting implications of business and operating decisions

• Represent the accounting function in cross-functional and executive settings, communicating financial results and technical matters clearly to non-accounting audiences

Experience and Education

• CPA required

• 10–15 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles in public company environments

• Big 4 public accounting experience required

• Strong background in SEC reporting, technical accounting, revenue accounting, and internal controls (SOX/ICFR)

• Experience leading accounting teams and driving results in fast-paced, high-growth environments

Required Skills and Abilities

• Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and internal controls, with sound judgment on technical accounting matters

• A strong grasp of how the business affects accounting results, and how accounting decisions affect how those results look

• Ability to anticipate the accounting impact of new business activity and evolving revenue models before they reach the close

• A demonstrated ability to build, coach, and develop accounting talent

• A continuous improvement mindset, with a track record of strengthening processes, controls, and reporting quality

• Strong executive presence and the ability to partner effectively across finance, operations, and executive leadership

• Ability to communicate complex accounting and technical matters clearly to non-accounting audiences

• Experience with NetSuite and Workiva preferred

Benefits Summary

• High quality voluntary health, vision, disability, life, and dental insurance programs

• 401K Matching Plan

• Employee Stock Purchase Plan

• Paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave

• Corporate sponsored programs to enhance employee physical, financial, mental and emotional wellness

• Financial Solution Program
