SUMMARY OF FUNCTION: 

Responsible for leading the company’s financial management operations, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) requirements, while supporting corporate growth through accurate financial reporting, streamlined processes, and sound fiscal oversight. Manages day-to-day accounting functions, supervises accounting staff, and collaborates with executive leadership to provide financial insight, analysis, and forecasting that guide decision-making and ensure sustainable growth.  

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Oversees daily accounting operations, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash disbursements, labor distribution, and general ledger management.

  1. Ensures all accounting transactions comply with GAAP, FAR, CAS, and DCAA requirements, maintaining consistency and integrity of financial practices; reviews and analyzes accounting data to identify discrepancies, resolve issues, and provide financial insights to management.

  1. Prepares and reviews month, quarter, and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, indirect rate calculations, and management reporting.

  1. Supports the preparation and submission of incurred cost submissions and participates in annual audits by coordinating with external auditors, DCAA, or Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA).

  1. Develops and maintains effective internal controls, implementing process improvements and automation strategies to enhance efficiency while ensuring compliance.

  1. Partners with the CEO and COO to prepare budgets, forecasts, cash flow analyses, and indirect rate models, contributing to executive-level financial planning and decision-making.

  1. Oversees contract and project accounting, ensuring proper segregation of direct, indirect, and unallowable costs and accurate reporting of burn rates, funding, and profitability.

  1. Administers and optimizes Deltek Costpoint (or equivalent ERP), ensuring compliance with labor charging, timekeeping, and expense reporting requirements.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field and minimum four years of progressive responsibility as Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager within a government contracting environment; or equivalent combination of related education and experience.  
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, FAR, CAS, and DCAA compliance, with demonstrated experience supporting DCAA/DCMA audits.  

  • Extensive experience with Deltek Costpoint 8. 

  • Demonstrated ability to prepared incurred cost submissions, indirect rate models, and support external and government audits. 

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information clearly to stakeholders. 

  • Ability to multi-task, to perform well under tight time constraints, to meet hard deadlines, and to respond quickly to emergent issues with poise and composure. 

  • Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and organizational skills. 

  • Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships, internal and external to the organization. 

  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and ethics. 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc. 

  • Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and effective manner in accordance with BlueForce policies, programs, and guidelines to achieve the overall objectives of the position. 

  • Must be authorized to work in the US. Background investigation may be conducted; security clearance may be required.

WORKING CONDITIONS: 

Work primarily performed in a telework/remote environment. Travel may be required. Evening and weekend work may be required based on business needs. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 


Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum four years progressive responsibility as Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager within a government contracting environment (or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, FAR, CAS, and DCAA compliance with demonstrated DCAA/DCMA audit support experience
  • Extensive experience with Deltek Costpoint 8 (or equivalent ERP)
  • Ability to prepare incurred cost submissions, indirect rate models, and support external and government audits
  • Experience overseeing payroll, AP, AR, cash disbursements, labor distribution, and general ledger management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
