POSITION OVERVIEW:
Under the direction of the Director of Sales & Marketing, the Corporate Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying, developing, and qualifying strategic growth opportunities across Albarrie’s filtration, technical fabrics, specialty roll goods, spill containment, and environmental product lines.

This role serves as both a technical and commercial resource, working closely with consulting engineers, utilities, contractors, industrial customers, government agencies, and other key industry stakeholders to identify opportunities, build strong professional relationships, and position Albarrie solutions early in the project lifecycle.

The Corporate Business Development Manager will focus on business development, market expansion, technical presentations, market intelligence, industry engagement, lead generation, and strategic relationship development in support of Albarrie’s sales growth objectives.This is a highly relationship-driven role with extensive travel, requiring up to 50% travel across North America and internationally.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify, qualify, and develop strategic growth opportunities across Albarrie’s filtration, technical fabrics, specialty roll goods, spill containment, and environmental protection markets.
  • Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with consulting engineers, design firms, utilities, municipalities, contractors, government agencies, industrial end users, and other key industry stakeholders.
  • Identify projects and business opportunities early in the design and procurement process.
  • Monitor public and private procurement opportunities, capital projects, engineering specifications, industry developments, and market trends to identify new business opportunities.
  • Understand current and future customer requirements by developing relationships and identifying technical, operational, and commercial challenges.
  • Create and deliver technical presentations, demonstrations, lunch-and-learn sessions, webinars, and product showcases that effectively communicate Albarrie’s value proposition and technical capabilities.
  • Simplify complex technical concepts and provide technical guidance during customer presentations, project discussions, and product evaluations.
  • Travel extensively, up to 50%, across North America and internationally, to visit clients, engineering firms, project sites, conferences, trade shows, and industry events.
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of Albarrie’s products, technologies, applications, and industry trends to effectively position solutions within target markets.
  • Represent Albarrie at trade shows, conferences, industry associations, networking events, customer meetings, and other promotional activities to increase market awareness and generate qualified opportunities.
  • Conduct market research and collect competitive intelligence to identify opportunities, potential threats, emerging customer needs, and market trends.
  • Engage customers, consultants, and project stakeholders to understand project requirements and position Albarrie products and services during project planning and development.
  • Generate and qualify business opportunities and collaborate with Technical Sales Managers, Inside Sales, Engineering, Marketing, and Estimating teams to develop quotations, tenders, and proposals.
  • Support the preparation and review of tenders, proposals, and technical submissions by providing market intelligence, customer insights, and technical expertise.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Estimating, and Operations teams to develop strategic account plans and maximize business development opportunities.
  • Review customer contracts in collaboration with the Director of Sales & Marketing and Corporate Contract Specialist to support alignment between customer requirements, quotations, and business objectives.
  • Participate in addressing non-conformance issues, customer concerns, and product performance matters in collaboration with Engineering and Quality.
  • Communicate market opportunities, customer feedback, industry developments, and product enhancement recommendations to Sales, Marketing, Engineering, and R&D teams.
  • Support and mentor sales team members through technical knowledge sharing, product training, and business development best practices.
  • Meet and exceed business development objectives and KPIs, including pipeline development, opportunity generation, market expansion, and strategic relationship growth.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with company and departmental policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and professional development through relevant industry conferences, seminars, training programs, and workshops.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of a college diploma or university degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline. Equivalent industry experience will also be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in technical sales, business development, engineering, infrastructure, construction, industrial processing, environmental protection, or a related industry.
  • Strong understanding of civil, mechanical, and/or environmental engineering concepts and the ability to communicate effectively with technical stakeholders.
  • Experience presenting technical solutions to customers, engineers, consultants, utilities, government agencies, contractors, or other industry stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM software.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, conflict resolution, communication, networking, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to deliver technical presentations and communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong organizational, project management, multitasking, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively managing multiple opportunities, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to identify, qualify, and develop new market opportunities.
  • Ability to learn and apply technical product knowledge, specifications, and industry standards.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Estimating, and Operations teams.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel extensively, up to 50%, across North America and internationally.
  • Must hold a valid Ontario Driver’s License and be able to operate personal and company vehicles.
  • Must be able to comply with drug and alcohol testing requirements, as applicable.
