As Manager, Corporate Affairs, you will help enhance and protect the reputation of one of Australia's leading universities. From managing complex issues and emerging risks to delivering strategic engagement initiatives, you will play a critical role in how UQ is perceived by government, industry, media and the wider community.

Working within a high-performing Marketing and Communication function, you will deliver impactful, audience-centred communication plans and navigate complex reputational matters affecting internal and external stakeholders.   

This is a unique opportunity to work at the centre of major institutional initiatives, partnering with senior executives and subject matter experts to navigate complex issues and tell stories that showcase UQ's impact locally, nationally and globally.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the development and delivery of strategic engagement and communication programs aligned to UQ's priorities

  • Providing trusted advice to senior leaders on communication strategy, reputation management and stakeholder engagement

  • Building and maintaining strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to support UQ's reputation and strategic objectives

  • Developing compelling messaging and content tailored to diverse audiences and communication channels

  • Managing reputational risks and coordinating effective communication responses to emerging issues and sensitive matters

About You

You are a strategic and agile communications professional who thrives in dynamic environments and enjoys working at the intersection of reputation, media, corporate communication and stakeholder engagement. You bring a thoughtful, proactive approach and a genuine commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes.

  • Tertiary qualifications in communication, public relations, journalism or a related discipline, with significant relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Demonstrated success in corporate communications, stakeholder engagement and reputation management within a large or complex organisation

  • Strong experience developing and delivering communication initiatives with measurable outcomes

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience crafting messaging across multiple platforms

  • Experience working with media and journalists, including responding to emerging issues

  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills in complex environments

  • Ability to monitor external trends and risks and translate insights into effective communication strategies

  • Willingness to participate in on-call or out-of-hours support as required
