The Role

Responsibilities:

Overall:

  • Be the key internal contact point for environment shaping (ES) activities.

  • Partner closely with ICEE central team, General manager and affiliate’s commercial and medical teams on ES.

  • Co-develop and execute cross-functionally robust, focused and impactful ES plans.

  • Support affiliate customer and business planning to ensure ES is well reflected in the company planning processes.

  • Engage strategically selected external stakeholders.

  • Select, engage and manage agencies that support ES work.

  • Partner with E&C and Legal to

    ensure full compliance with company procedure as well as with country rules and regulations

    Drive constant updating and improvement of the company's procedures to ensure efficiency for all the areas of accountability (policy, communication and advocacy)

Government Affairs

  • Understand the access environment, the political environment and the social landscape.

  • Ensure launch plans have robust CA strategies and tactics linked to access & Business objectives

  • Build strong partnership and initiatives with national authorities

  • Create and protect an innovation-friendly environment while working to ensure better access to care for patients, narrow the gap between healthcare policies and latest scientific evidence and recommendations, and strengthen healthcare systems.

Policy

  • Translate affiliate business and access priorities into policy priorities.

  • Coordinate the development of policy and public affairs strategy.

  • Develop policy positions in support of Lilly’s mission.

  • Engage policymakers to advance healthcare policies that drive better care for people.

  • Work to establish external coalition (e.g., parliamentary intergroups, multi-stakeholder coalitions, groups of policy champions, etc.) to reach the critical mass needed to catalyze policy change.

  • Collaborate with internal partners to develop and communicate messages to external stakeholders in support of policies that improve patient health outcomes and advance medical research and innovation.

  • Cultivate public awareness of key issues and needed policy changes.

  • Ensure the company is seen as a trusted partner by a wide range of organizations.

  • Leverage strategically Lilly presence within trade/industry associations.

Communication (Corporate and TAs)

  • Develop and execute communication strategies, to elevate company's profile and increase awareness of Lilly's scientific activities and products, seizing relevant opportunities to enhance the organization's image. This applies to company reputation, disease-state awareness, key healthcare priorities, Lilly driven or community-driven strategic initiatives, marketed products and pipeline programs (in full compliance with company procedures and national rules and regulations).

  • Build and maintain a media network, supporting the positioning of Lilly brand in the Country market and environment.

  • Ensure positive coverage of Lilly's ambition to be a leader in the marketplace.

  • Drive media coverage around key milestones, leveraging multiple channels such as general media, medical and industry press, social media (including local company website(s)) to increase visibility and reach target audiences, in agreement with the General Manager.

  • Identify and address issues that may impact Lilly's reputation as a responsible corporate citizen. Co-develop and implement the Affiliate's strategies for communicating and responding in the event of a crisis. Provide real-time support and guidance to the General Manager on crisis/issues management.

  • Support the management of crisis communications and issues management.

  • Assume responsibility for external communications in Country in 100% compliance with Lilly’s procedures, corporate communications and disclosure rules. Provide dedicated and expert communications counsel and insights to local leadership on positioning and messaging in building awareness, understanding and support for the company's strategic goals and priorities among multiple stakeholders.

Advocacy

  • Analyze the external context and public policy priorities to identify opportunities for collaboration with patient and scientific associations and influence groups.

  • Translate company priorities, therapeutic-areas specific priorities, PRA access and business objectives into healthcare system and advocacy priorities. Work cross-functionally to ensure alignment with other departments within the affiliate and co-develop and execute an advocacy strategy in key disease areas.

  • Engage strategically with patient advocacy (traditional and online) as well as with scientific organizations (in partnership with medical team) in key disease areas to advance common policy and healthcare system priorities.

  • Leverage relationship with advocacy to incorporate the patient perspective in Lilly's strategies.
