Overview
The purpose of the Core Application Engineer position is to provide a central application engineering role within the company that provides technical expertise and support to a variety of internal departments including, but not limited to, New Apparatus (NA) Regional Application Engineering, Design Automation and Programming, Fluid Analysis, Research and Development, Product Engineering, and Project Engineering to achieve the best solutions for Ebara Elliott Energy (EEE). Core Application Engineering has technically oriented subject matter experts who cover various EEE product lines such as centrifugal compressors, axial compressors, steam turbines, and cryodynamic products. The specialized product line(s) will vary per Core Application Engineer, but their functions will be similar.
This job posting is seeking a Core Application Engineer to work on engineered product steam turbines with potential work on additional product line(s) in the future.

Provide leadership for the product lines from an Application Engineering perspective.
Responsibilities
The specific job responsibilities listed may vary to some degree based on the assigned product line(s).

Provide technical, and occasionally commercial, support to NA Regional Application Engineering for proposal related activities to achieve the best solutions for EEE while meeting or exceeding internal and customer requirements:
-
Support unique, unfamiliar, and/or challenging situations (and occasionally for more routine situations).

Develop the best solutions for EEE, such as design of high efficiency or low-cost equipment selections, in order to achieve the most competitive offer to our customers.

Provide guidance and assistance to Regional AE’s for a considerable number areas such as feasibility / budgetary / firm selections, non-typical applications (i.e. non-typical working fluid, configurations, conditions, etc.), proper application of products or product components, specification reviews, comments and exceptions, conducting aerodynamic performance and mechanical design analyses, scope of supply definition, datasheets generation, curve generation, cost request forms, bid clarifications, etc.

Review and comment to Engineering Authorization requests.

Provide guidance and assistance to Regional AE’s in the application of new R&D projects.

Support new product offering by reviewing R&D projects and implementing into Application Engineering processes when ready:

Provide input to R&D project development, especially with regards to required outputs, to ensure that they meet standards necessary for successful utilization by proposal personnel.

Interface with R&D to understand the project and make recommendations that best serve EEE.

Implement tools, processes, documentation, etc. to transition new projects from R&D to being released for global use.

Act in a lead or support role relative to Core Design Automation and Programming (DAP) activities:

Act as a gatekeeper for Trouble Reports and Enhancement Requests.

Support worldwide users and Core programmer to address various eShell requests: proper program usage and navigation, bugs, troubleshooting, testing, identification of process improvement opportunities, etc.

Assist Core DAP and Fluid Analysis in the review, development, and/or revision of code and rules.

Develop or improve automation of procedures and calculations.

Create and maintain documentation owned by the group:
-
Application manuals, Forms, Work Instructions, etc.

Lead company-wide reviews of new revisions of specific API standards and generate standard comments and exceptions to be used for EEE proposals. Maintain / modify these standard C/E as needed after initial issuance.

Generate and distribute AE tips to AE’s, as well as other impacted groups, worldwide.

Execute special projects or activities, ranging from short to long duration (i.e. less than a day to multiple years), as directed by management and in support of company objectives.

Coordinate, collaborate, and/or consult with other departments to ensure proper execution of activities.

Train new members of the group.

Maintain product line historical database.

Actively participate in shop order design reviews and complete assigned actions as requested.

Support order execution personnel as requested.

Sometimes, the Core AE represents EEE on an API task force and actively participates in efforts to generate the next revision or edition of the applicable API standard.

Assists and participates in the development of the overall Core Application Engineering team capabilities and performance.

Keeping current with technology through magazines, articles, on and off-site training, seminars and webinars, etc.

Provide leadership, mentorship, guidance, and direction for less experienced engineers.
Requirements
-
Bachelor of Science Engineering or Bachelor of Science Engineering Technology (mechanical or similar discipline)
-
A minimum of 4 years of work experience as an Engineer with expertise in engineered product steam turbines and related auxiliaries (i.e. T&T valves, surface condensers, couplings, etc.).
-
Demonstrated capabilities of developing sound technical solutions to complex problems and being able to communicate & present the solution in a manner that gains buy-in from internal and external customers.

Understanding the importance of pre-contract agreements, contractual requirements, and EEE’s ability to meet those commitments during project execution while maintaining schedule and budget.

Basic understanding of, and the ability to interpret, technical drawings.
-
Experience with industry standards such as API or similar (ASME, etc.)

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
-
Excellent skills in problem solving, initiative, teamwork, conflict resolution, and decision making
Preferred Requirements:

Professional Engineering license

A minimum of 6 years of work experience as an Engineer with expertise in engineered product steam turbines and related auxiliaries (i.e. T&T valves, surface condensers, couplings, etc.).

Expertise in axial compressors and related auxiliaries (i.e.: motors, gears, couplings, lube & seal systems, etc.).
