Schedule: Primarily first shift from 6:30 am-3 pm, Tuesday through Saturday, with flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays

About the Role

As a Cord Blood Donation Recruitment Specialist, you will:

  • Obtain Informed Consent: Educate expectant mothers and families at the bedside regarding cord blood donation and obtain informed consent in accordance with regulatory and ethical standards.
  • Maintain Accurate Records: Complete and submit documentation accurately and within required timelines and follow up on missing information or specimens as needed.
  • Ensure Compliance: Review and ensure all paperwork related to the collection process is complete and accurate.
  • Maintain Standards: Ensure collected cord blood units and supplies are stored and shipped properly.
  • Coordinate Collection Logistics: Track consents, tube orders, collections, and shipments to ensure timely completion prior to maternal discharge from hospital.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
  • Experience: Preferred experience in patient consent, clinical research, hospital outreach, public health fieldwork, labor and delivery, hospitals, obstetrical offices, and/or health/patient education.
  • Skills: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to interact with medical professionals at every level.
  • Other: Valid driver’s license. Must also meet and maintain LifeSouth driver’s eligibility requirements. Positive bedside manner and emotional intelligence with excellent customer service skills. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

LifeSouth is a non-profit community blood bank serving more than 150 hospitals in Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Tennessee. We are committed to meeting the blood supply needs of hospitals and their patients by providing the highest quality blood components and services. With more than 45 donor centers, 55 bloodmobiles and 2,000 blood drives a month, our LifeSouth team is dedicated to making sure the blood is there when you or your family is in need.

To provide a safe blood supply that meets or exceeds the needs in each community we serve, and to provide a variety of services in support of ongoing and emerging blood and transfusion related activities.
