The Role

Summary:

Reporting to the Marketing Content & Advertising Manager, the Copywriter is responsible for delivering and editing copy to support customer experience, learning & development, and marketing.

Responsibilities:

  • Write and edit copy for various communications including flyers, catalogues, email marketing, social media, digital advertising, product pages, customer resources, internal documents and more.
  • Maintain Bass Pro Shops Canada style guide and ensure Canadian brand is properly represented at all times.
  • Manage copy requests from internal clients to ensure alignment of requirements, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Edit and proofread digital/website content such as articles, buying guides, social media and blog content.
  • Partner with the digital merchandising team to ensure copy consistency of message across media, reviewing copy font, format and style, consistency in product information and proofreading spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc. 
  • Ensure brand materials, presentations and collaterals are edited for consistency, clarity, brevity, accuracy, and readability for digital, print and video scripts.
  • Supervise, edit, and guide the technical writing of new and revised standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Create memos, update highlights within the retail organization and publish SOPs on the company platform.
  • Review SOP archives to assist in legal discovery.
  • Collaborate with training teams to have job aids and training documentations created where necessary.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in communications, journalism, marketing, English or related field.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint. 
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills demonstrating strong grammar and copywriting abilities.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Digital-native, fluent in social media platforms with an understanding of best practices across digital channels.
  • Understanding basic SEO best practices and planning/implementation.
  • Team player with a positive attitude.
  • Self-driven and motivated with a strong work ethic.
