Clearly, we need your help. The award-winning Creative team at the Cineplex home office is looking for a brilliant and talented creative Copywriter, reporting to the Executive Director, Creative.

Remember the first time you connected strong creativity to a bigger purpose? Or maybe wondering who wrote "Roads? Where we're going we don't need roads." You fell in love when you realized that behind every letter, word, uniquely crafted sentence and script was a witty, creative writer.

We believe strong creative is more than just pretty colours, perfect type, and dynamic advertising. It's a way of driving our purpose to help Canadians be inspired to seek Escape at Canada's premier entertainment brands, including Cineplex Cinemas, The Rec Room, Playdium and more.

As our Copywriter, you'll be a collaborative storyteller within our creative team, crafting compelling messaging for every medium – ad campaigns, paid social, emails, videos and many other brand deliverables. Our headlines and copy need to ooze with our brand and personality - bold, captivating & playful.

You can craft the catchiest of headlines, attention-grabbing email headers, and intriguing calls to action. You can ideate brilliant creative concepts and express them in pitch decks and scripts. You're funny and witty, and you know how to strike the perfect balance between humour and tactical messaging for a national audience across multiple markets and entertainment spaces.

This is a hybrid position (3 days in the office per week). Office location is 1303 Yonge Street, Toronto.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop fresh and exciting ideas that are forward-thinking and in-line with current advertising trends.

  • Generate short and long form marketing copy for cinema, social & digital, email, OOH, print and radio.

  • Develop copy that consistently hits the objectives and communication needs of creative briefs.

  • Maintain a clear and consistent brand voice for each line of business and adjust for different consumer segments.

  • Work alongside designers to conceive and execute effective campaigns with integrated written and visual concepts.

  • Passionately and confidently present your ideas to internal stakeholders.

Experience:

  • 5+ years in advertising copywriting at a creative agency or in-house, or equivalent experience.

  • Working experience with social platforms and post copy

  • Familiar with copy style guides and working with and managing them

Skills:

  • 🏁 Self-starter and problem solver

  • 🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Team player & relationship builder

  • ✍️ Superb verbal and written communication skills

  • 🤔 Ability to listen, persuade, and interpret feedback and come up with creative solutions

  • 🗓 Ability to manage and work on multiple projects at the same time and with tight deadlines

  • 📈 Must foster a positive team atmosphere

  • 🎥 Bonus points if you can quote movies like it’s nobody’s business!
