Role
We are looking for a seasoned copy editor who has experience editing complex stories on corporate finance and distressed debt situations in Europe, Asia, and/or elsewhere. As copy editor, you’ll be responsible for covering editing needs for our technical, legal, and market-based stories. You’ll provide support to editorial operations and staff writers as needed.
The ideal candidate will have wire service, newsroom or similar experience, know or be able to efficiently learn our subject matter, and possess the ability to quickly make concise stories from complex information. Speed, accuracy and strong news judgment are critical to this role. The candidate must be an excellent communicator, confidently work across different teams, and adapt quickly as editorial objectives evolve. Prior experience in structural editing is preferred.

Responsibilities
- Copy edit technical, transactional, legal and market-based stories for a growing subscriber base of sophisticated professionals
- Ensure real-time news coverage adheres to our house style and remains at the forefront of the financial news agenda
- Assist editors in directing editorial flow and prioritizing stories
- Edit breaking news stories based on company announcements and third-party content
- Manage and monitor internal databases and contribute to project management processes
- When required, provide structural edits and context, and guide writers through rewrites when needed
- Work closely with reporters to share the narrative of their stories
- Adopt Octus’s editorial standards, workflows, and processes with ease
- Provide crossover support between regions and an “edit anything from anywhere” mindset
Requirements
- Impeccable attention to detail and first-rate editing skills
- Excellent writing, time management and communication skills
- Ability to manage and prioritize numerous projects simultaneously while working to tight deadlines
- Strong news sense, with knowledge in financial news and markets
- Ability to work accurately at speed and under pressure
- High level of numeracy and literacy with a creative approach
- Excellent written English
- Covering shift work during the week, occasionally working unsociable hours to ensure we publish news in a timely manner
- Candidates must have a minimum of three years’ professional editing experience.

Reorg has adopted a hybrid working policy. For non-remote employees located within a reasonable commuting distance to one of our offices, the requirement is to work from the office at least 2 days per week.
