Location: Job will require working (on a rotational basis) at 4 NY locations, Staten Island, Ridgewood Queens, Freeport Long Island and St. James (Smithtown) Long Island

Employment Type: Full-Time 

Availability: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:30pm. Schedule and hours may vary based on operational needs

Pay Rate: $32 - $37 per hour

Responsibilities:

  • Plans, delivers, and oversees Emergency Medical Services (E. M. S.) training programs across all levels of care, ensuring alignment with corporate standards and operational requirements.
  • Leads the Field Training Officer (FTO) Program by delivering initial FTO training, coordinating the program for new providers, evaluating FTO performance in conjunction with their direct supervisor, and identifying and implementing remedial training for current providers as needed.
  • Conducts research and delivers training on the use of agency medical equipment currently in use or planned for implementation, including but not limited to suction machines, oxygen delivery systems, backboards, fracture kits, obstetrical kits, intravenous kits, airway equipment, and monitor/defibrillators.
  • Trains personnel in determining the differential diagnosis of injuries and illnesses, basic procedures for extraction, development of treatment plans, and documentation.
  • Plans and delivers training on procedures for verbal and written reports and records on the observation and care of patients at the emergency scene in transit to the hospital, based on standards provided by DocGo QI and Market Leadership.
  • Ride alongside field personnel to evaluate crews on their medical skills and procedures on an as needed basis.
  • Assists in developing the budget by recommending supplies, materials, and training opportunities, to include additional hours to add to payroll for purposes of personnel attending in-service training while off duty.
  • Attend meetings and prepare reports as requested.
  • Helps track certifications, licenses, and accreditations, and performs required patient care benchmark skills where applicable.
  • Establishes and maintains documents relative to training, information guides, and procedures affecting the division's activities in the EMS program.
  • Assists in the development of CQI Indicators and conducting CQI inquiries on field incidents.
  • Develops lesson plans using standardized software programs and conducts multiple repetitive EMS courses during a training cycle.
  • Provides EMS shift coverage, vacation, and temporary relief as required.
  • Provides other duties in support of the operation as required.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience working as a licensed Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician
  • Unrestricted Emergency Medical Technician/Paramedic certification/license from New York State OR National Registered Emergency Medical Technician/Paramedic, eligible for reciprocity to NY (must obtain reciprocity within 90 days)
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Valid NYS Driver’s license, (minimum of 2 years) with an acceptable driving record  
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignment
  • Considerable knowledge of procedures and techniques for administering emergency medical care.
  • Knowledge of instructional strategies for adult learners of all learning types (audio, visual, tactile).
  • Skilled in developing and implementing educational curriculum.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a strong attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication capabilities
  • NYS DOH CIC or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or higher with coursework in Emergency Medical Services, or related field and extensive experience in EMS.
  • AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS Instructor (or obtain within 6 months of hire)
  • NAEMT PHTLS, AMLS, GEMS Instructor (or obtain within 6 months of hire)
  • NAEMSE Level 1 Instructor Course
  • NAEMSE Level 2 Instructor Course
  • NEMSMA FTEP Basic FTO Course
  • NEMSMA Supervising Paramedic Officer or Managing Paramedic Officer

Skills Required

  • 3+ years of experience working as a licensed Paramedic or Emergency Medical Technician
