The Role

ROLE TITLE: Coordinator, Regional Leadership Operations 

POSITION REPORTS TO: MD, Regional Leadership

WHAT YOU’LL DO 

We are looking for a Coordinator, Operations to provide high-quality executive support and  ensure smooth day-to-day office operations for the Teach For America Los Angeles region.  You will work closely with the Managing Director, Regional Leadership Operations and the  Executive Director to support scheduling, communications, workflow, and key  administrative needs while also helping maintain an organized and effective office  environment. 

The ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting senior leaders and strengthening  operational systems with the ability to anticipate needs, manage details, and keep work  moving forward. In this role, you will spend the majority of your time supporting the Office  of the Executive Director, and your work will also ensure the TFA LA office runs smoothly,  budgets are tracked, and team operations are aligned. The goal is to ensure that behind the-scenes operations and executive support run seamlessly so regional staff can focus  their time and energy on advancing the mission that all children will one day have the opportunity to attain an excellent education. 

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

Executive Director Support (45%) 

• Manage the Executive Director’s calendar, meetings, and travel logistics. 

• Prepare communications, materials, and follow-up to support strong work-flow for  the Executive Director.  

• Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion. 

• Anticipate the Executive Director’s needs and resolve issues proactively to maximize  their capacity.

Office Operations (40%) 

• Maintain an organized, welcoming, and functional office environment for staff and  guests.  

• Coordinate daily office operations including supplies, mail, vendor coordination, and  general upkeep.  

• Resolve logistical or facilities issues to ensure smooth office functioning. 

• Support budget tracking and operational processes for the regional team. 

Regional Team Responsibilities (15%) 

• Attend team meetings and support region-wide operational needs and projects.

• Participate in organization-wide initiatives, including Selection days or cross-team  working groups. 

A WEEK IN THE LIFE 

Over the course of any week, the Coordinator, Operations will spend time managing and  organizing the Executive Director’s emails, scheduling meetings, and preparing materials to  support decision-making. You will attend planning and development meetings to ensure the  Executive Director has the support needed to advance priorities. You will also maintain the  office environment by keeping supplies stocked, submitting check requests, tracking  orders, coordinating with building management, and completing expense reports. You will  attend weekly team meetings and contribute to regional projects, ensuring the Executive  Director and regional team have the support they need to focus on their mission. 

YOUR EXPERIENCE 

• Administrative support: Experience managing calendars, meetings, communications,  and logistics with strong attention to detail, discretion, and follow-through.

• Office and operations management: Knowledge of day-to-day office operations,  including facilities coordination, vendor management, supplies, and creating an  organized, functional work environment. 

• Workflow and systems coordination: Ability to manage competing priorities, track  tasks, and support efficient workflows that keep leaders and teams moving forward.

• Budget and operational process support: Familiarity with basic budget tracking,  expense processing, and operational systems to support regional or departmental  needs. 

• Professional communication and collaboration: Strong written and verbal  communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally, support team  projects, and engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.

• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite of tools and Google Drive 

BONUS (preferred qualifications) 

Prior Experience 

• 0-2 years of work experience 

• Experience working in an office and team setting preferred 

• Experience working with non-profits or K-12 schools 

Skills 

• Ability to coordinate the execution of operations projects 

• Desire to work as a member of a collaborative team 

• Ability to make timely decisions and demonstrate good judgment 

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills 

• Knack for generating ideas and implementing solutions 

• Excellent listening and communication skills 

• Office administrative duties, including managing inventory, lifting and transporting up  to 30lbs and stocking shelves 

Work Demands 

• Occasional weekend and evening work required for events within the Greater Los  Angeles area 

• This role is required to travel to and work from our Downtown Los Angeles office at  least 2-3 days per week, or as needed to ensure high-quality office user experience  (in-person days vary based on constituent needs, but Tuesdays will always be  required for team meetings) 

YOUR FUTURE TEAM 

The Operations team creates the conditions necessary for the regional team and Executive  Director to thrive and achieve ambitious goals. The team is responsible for office  operations, regional finances, Executive Director support, policy engagement, talent, culture,  and some event logistics. 

YOUR COMPENSATION 

The applicable salary range for each U.S.-based role is determined by the employee's location and aligned with one of 3 tiers based on a cost-of-labor index for that geographic area. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, including education, training, experience, location, business needs, and market demands.

This salary may be modified in the future.

$28.08 per hour
