Who are we hiring?

The primary responsibility for this position is to assist with the development of the overarching fan engagement strategy, focusing on Jr Knicks youth basketball initiatives. This position will support fan, community, and youth engagement efforts with a focus on developing our fanbase, creating positive youth basketball experiences, and connecting our brand to the community in a meaningful way. The coordinator will assist in leading all execution and operations for Jr. Knicks programs, including but not limited to camps, clinics, coaches’ programs, equipment donations, affiliate program, tournaments, and in-arena experiences. They will work closely with marketing, ticketing, and partnership teams on the creation of Jr. Knicks platforms. This position will manage on-site event staff and clinicians, as well as serve as the frontline of the brand with parents and participating youth at events.

What will you do?

  • Supports team in developing and executing against Jr Knicks youth basketball strategy, inclusive of creating new programs, sustaining and building existing ones, and fostering relevant relationships
  • Serves as operations and event lead for Jr Knicks youth basketball programs (camps, clinics, Coaches programs, affiliate program, equipment donation, etc). This includes overseeing registration, on-site check-in, set-up and breakdown, on-site troubleshooting, venue selection and coordination, and post-event surveys execution
  • Responsible for managing communications with internal and external stakeholders, assisting with the development of marketing and communications strategies, and managing execution.
  • Build and manage relationships and cooperative programs/events with external organizations focused on increasing share of voice in youth basketball market
  • Organize and track department spending, based on annual budgets, including submitting purchase orders and processing invoices. Help manage project-specific budgets.
  • Coordinate data capture strategies across all youth programs and activities. This includes building and managing program/event registration, helping to develop surveys, and maintaining updated contact information for affiliates.
  • Assists with managing all staff and clinicians for department events.
  • Be a part of the team to create and execute a youth engagement and content strategy in coordination with Digital and Brand Marketing teams. Stay up-to-date on current news and information within youth sports/basketball
  • Assist with in-arena fan experiences and Fan Engagement events
  • Research and stay up-to-date on best practices across all youth-centric brands while making recommendations and applying learnings to improve department initiatives for the Knicks
  • Provide exceptional experiences for our guests, partners, and team members, including by adhering to our appearance and presentation guidelines while on-site.  

What will you need to succeed?

  • 1-3 years of experience in youth sports and/or operations
  • Ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of the youth basketball landscape and experience working with grassroots/community programs or events
  • Undergraduate college degree required
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Ability to use variety of social media and digital platforms/products
  • Basic accounting knowledge
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized individual with strong project management expertise
  • Highly adaptable individual who will establish effective relationships across multiple departments and functional areas
  • Capable of planning and executing marketing, communication and promotional plan
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends

Pay Range
$45,000$65,000 USD
