In collaboration with the Dean of Continuing Education and the Director of the Cogdell Learning Center and Community Programs, this individual will coordinate the instructional programs provided by Community Programs Continuing Education. This includes Kids' College courses, Personal Enrichment programming, and College Classics.
Essential Functions
- Assist in generation and implementation all departmental budgets, goals, and objectives
- Establish successful relationships with campus stakeholders
- Develop Community Program Continuing Education schedules for Kids’ College, Personal Enrichment programs, and College Classics
- Implement and oversee the registration process for Community Programs
- Assist with recruiting part-time instructors as needed by the program schedule
- Regularly communicate with part-time instructors; adding courses to the Higher Reach system, reserving classrooms, generating rosters, and following up with students enrolled in the classes
- Ensure that all course Instructors have the supplies they need for their courses
- Implement safety precautions in all areas of Kids’ College programming to include training the part-time staff in procedures and safety through an onboarding process
- Address any complaints or concerns stemming from Community Program participants
- Communicate effectively with the Director of Community Programs and the Dean of Continuing Education
- In collaboration with the Director of Community Programs, develop a marketing plan to advertise all Community Programs programming
- Collaborate with the Director of Community Programs to generate ideas on new courses that can be provided to the community
- Coordinate with other Midland College departments as appropriate
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree; or Associate's Degree (or equivalent – 60 college credit hours) and a minimum of two years of relevant administrative experience that includes demonstrated work experience with detail-oriented tasks of a significant nature
- Computer literacy to include proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to multi-task
- Must be detail-oriented and highly self-motivated
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent public relations skills
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver license, good driving record, and be insurable on Midland College's insurance policy
Preferred Qualifications
- Teaching experience or lesson plan design experience
- Experience working with children's programming, higher education, or continuing education programs
- Communication, budgeting, and supervisory skills
Physical Demands
- Frequently moves equipment or paperwork weighing up to 20 pounds
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
- Office and classroom setting
- Duties indoors and some outdoors; work will require much outdoor work during the months of June and July during Kids’ College
- Ability to work extended hours and attend Midland College or community events
Skills Required
- Bachelor's Degree; or Associate's Degree with 60 college credit hours and 2 years of relevant experience
- Computer literacy including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver license
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
