SUMMARY

The Coordinator manages Flathead Valley Community College’s (FVCC) and The Wachholz College Center’s (WCC) social media accounts, creates weekly newsletters and email marketing campaigns to engage the campus and community. The Coordinator creates digital content and videos for both FVCC and WCC. Additionally, the Coordinator promotes events and activities, contributing to increased awareness among students and the community.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Develops and manages FVCC and WCC’s social media presence on platforms including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, and other relevant platforms. Monitors and responds to comments on social media accounts, working under the direction of the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications.
  • Creates engaging content (writing, photography, video) to promote FVCC and WCC, including campus news, events, and programs.
  • Contributes to telling the story of FVCC and WCC through dynamic content, using a variety of media (photography, video, writing, and graphics) across social platforms.
  • Creates weekly digital newsletters highlighting news and events for faculty, staff, and students and uses digital newsletters and email marketing to promote programs and events.
  • Assists with managing a content calendar for social media and newsletters.
  • Works with student groups, faculty, and staff to support event communications, ensuring consistency in messaging across platforms.
  • Ensures all content aligns with FVCC and WCC’s brand, style, and voice, following college policies and guidelines.
  • Tracks social media metrics to evaluate performance and engagement, contributing to the improvement of strategies.
  • Helps manage on-campus physical bulletin boards, including posting approved posters and signage.
  • Collaborates with campus teams to ensure smooth information flow, enhancing communication about FVCC and WCC events.
  • Keeps abreast of the latest developments in social media and marketing to help build strategic initiatives.
  • Attends related trainings, workshops, and professional development
  • Cross trains to perform other departmental and team functions; backfills for staff as needed
  • Actively participates in the development of a climate that promotes and supports innovation and efforts to continuously improve services to students, faculty, and the College
  • Creates and maintains a collaborative and collegial environment with colleagues and maintains effective working relationships
  • Maintains professional ethics and confidentiality of students in accordance with applicable laws and policies
  • Advances the mission of FVCC by serving on or convening committees and contributing in the community in college-related activities
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, as required by the event schedule.
  • Reports to Executive Director, College Relations, Communications, and Marketing, with support from the Communications and Marketing Manager of WCC.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, digital media, or related field AND one year of related work experience; OR
  • Associate’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, digital media, or a related field, AND three years of related work experience, OR
  • An equitable  combination of five years of higher education and professional related work experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • One to two years of experience in marketing, public relations, communications, or social media management.
  • Experience managing social media accounts for an organization or institution.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITITES

  • Strong writing, editing, and content creation skills, with attention to detail.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in email marketing platforms and basic knowledge of content management systems.
  • Skill and proficiency in photography, videography, writing, and graphics.
  • Ability to collaborate with others and work independently as needed.
  • Strong knowledge with Microsoft, Google, and Adobe applications, with familiarity of WordPress.
  • Strong knowledge of standard office software including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Google tools.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate events that may occur outside regular business hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to work within policies and procedures of FVCC.
  • Ability to issue and follow directions.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to maintain regular and acceptable attendance levels.
  • Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check.
  • Ability to respond in the event of an emergency.
  • This is a Medium Duty job, according to the Selected Characteristics of Occupations Defined in the Revised Dictionary of Occupational Titles, U.S. Department of Labor and Industry.    Medium Duty involves exertion of 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds continuously to move objects.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, digital media, or related field AND one year of related work experience (OR Associate's degree + three years experience OR equivalent combination totaling five years)
