Job Description

Opportunity at a Glance

The Case Coordinator reports to the Director, Office of Non-Discrimination and Access (ONA) with a dotted line report to the VP Senor Associate General Counsel. The ONA Coordinator will assist ONA and the Covista Legal department in addressing, managing, and resolving complaints and issues regarding protected-characteristic based harassment, discrimination, and misconduct. This position will also work closely with Human Resources, Safety and security, Regulatory Affairs, and other institutional leaders and partners to ensure successful and effective responses regarding student safety and well-being, and to address matters of non-discrimination and access.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct intake of matters submitted to ONA. Complete first line review and manage responses (e.g., outreach, supportive measures, etc.) in alignment with the direction of the ONA Director and Legal colleagues. Route matters to other appropriate departments and colleagues, where appropriate.
  • Conduct intake interviews and explain the investigation process for TIX and non-discrimination matters.
  • Receive and respond to inquiries, reports, and com plaints from students and colleagues, and maintain proper documentation/organization of all communication.
  • Assist ONA and Legal in case management; assist with colleague non-discrimination trainings.
  • Assist the Title IX and Non-Discrimination Investigator in conducting investigations based on the Covista Anti-Harassment and Non-Discrimination Policy, its institutions' Sex-Based Misconduct Response and Prevention Policies, and other policies concerning protected-characteristic discrimination and harassment.
  • Triage incoming Situational Intervention Team (SIT) reports submitted by Covista community members to the appropriate institutional SIT Chair; ensure appropriate follow-up and intervention occurs and is properly documented within the SpeakUp (i.e., EQS) system; meet with institutional SIT Teams as needed.
  • Manage/organize/maintain all ONA correspondence and internal tracking mechanisms in tandem with the ONA Director and ONA Administrative Specialist.
  • Maintain all ONA communications, including the ONA newsletter and institutions' ONA web pages.
  • Manage departmental tracking system for ONA com plaints. Analyze reporting data to identify trends and areas of need/training across institutions.
  • Organize, update, and facilitate supportive outreach to students/community members upon receiving reports of potential violations to TIX/sex-based misconduct and non-discrimination policies.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required and Master's Degree preferred or other graduate degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of higher education compliance experience, preferably in Title IX, ADA/Title 504 and/or student affairs roles required.
  • The ONA Coordinator will be expected to "hit the ground running," and must be extremely organized, a self-starter, a solution-finder, and a forward-thinker.
  • The incumbent will interact with all levels of management and, as such, must possess superior communication skills (both written and oral), professionalism, diplomatic, and “active listening” skills.
  • The ideal candidate is highly motivated with a positive outlook and approach. 
  • Able to independently handle confidential and sensitive matters using excellent judgment and professionalism.
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Other required skills include organizing resources and establishing priorities; ability to gather and analyze qualitative and quantitative data; use of personal computers and a wide variety of related software applications; ability to foster a cooperative work environment; thrives on working in a team-based environment but does not require micromanagement.

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $70,000 and $90,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
