POSITION SUMMARY

The Cookhouse Steward will further the mission of Roundup River Ranch by supporting all campers, staff and program activities in the Cookhouse and Kitchen to ensure campers, volunteers, and staff have a positive camp experience; support the cleanliness of all Cookhouse & kitchen spaces; to ensure the highest standards of sanitation are met in these facilities to support the medical safety of all campers, staff and volunteers.  

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Ensure all Cookhouse facilities are thoroughly cleaned on a daily basis, including, but not limited to, disinfecting/sanitizing surfaces, cleaning all toilets, restocking soap, paper towels, and toilet paper dispensers, and taking out trash from Cookhouse on a daily basis.  
• Ensure all dishes, glasses, silverware, pots, and pans are washed after each meal either by hand or machine. 
• Teach and assist camp staff and volunteers in safe use of the dish machine and process along with sanitary meal set up, service, and clean up. 
• Ensure galley area is cleaned and sanitized on a daily basis.  
• Support food deliveries and proper storage of goods.
• Support daily maintenance of kitchen equipment and systems (i.e. ensure completion of daily cleaning/sanitizing schedules, temperature logs, chemicals, etc.)
• Work with kitchen staff and volunteers assigned to kitchen in daily and session duties.
• Wash kitchen linens as needed. 
• Help sweep and mop the kitchen and dining room. 
• Take out the trash from the kitchen and dining room to the dumpster. 
• Clean and wash trash cans as needed. 
• Assist with food preparation as needed. 
• Clean spillage in the kitchen or dining room. 
• Keep dishwasher area clean; Straighten the counter/clean after each meal. 
• Supervise and assist set up for each meal. 
• Be punctual in following the assigned schedule 
• Follow State of Colorado requirements, SeriousFun Children’s Network criteria and American Camp Association standards effectively.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Ability to learn to do tasks as assigned
• Strong collaboration and team building skills
• Good time management skills
• Ability to accept supervision and guidance
• Ability to move items (such as kitchen equipment)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience working in a commercial kitchen is preferred
• Ability to work in a facility that is smoke free, tobacco free, drug free (including medical and recreation marijuana), and alcohol free  
• Passion for the Roundup River Ranch Mission

Special Requirements

The Cookhouse Steward is not required to be residential at the campsite in Gypsum, CO. However, must be available to support the needs of the Kitchen including being available to support anytime when camp is in session.
