JOB SUMMARY:
The Controls Engineer position is responsible for the development and delivery of control systems for manufacturing equipment for manual to highly automated assembly and test equipment. This engineering assignment will involve interaction with the Production and Manufacturing Engineering teams to design, implement, and troubleshoot electrical and controls of manufacturing equipment, and will also involve writing computer/PLC code for machines. The ideal candidate should be able to work independently as well as in a team based environment.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Development and verification of all controls requirements of manufacturing equipment (include electrical/programming/hardware requirements)
- Program equipment, robotics, inspection cameras, and operator interfaces
- Maintain, troubleshoot and assist with controls issues on production equipment
- Design and integrate electrical safety requirements into equipment
- Assist in the delivery of all required electrical systems documentation
- Provide technical leadership in supported areas
- Problem solving/root cause analysis and development of action items
- Assist in new product line launches
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Bachelors degree in Electrical, Mechanical or other applicable field of Engineering
- 7+ years of field experience in automation, controls or manufacturing engineering
- Proficient in MS Office products
- Ability to understand/create electrical schematics
- Proficient in AutoCAD electrical
- Expert in PLC controls/Ladder Logic/Visual Basic techniques
- Knowlege of Allen Bradley Studio 5000 PLC/Factory Talk View HMI software
- Experience in programming Robotics/Automation (Fanuc, Epson)
- Experience programming and integrating inspection cameras (Cognex, Keyence)
- Strong hands on technical experience and problem solving capability
- Project management skills, including strong communication and collaboration with cross functional teams
LOCATION AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
This role is based in Lexington, OH but may require travel to support program launch activities, as necessary.
