Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Will adhere to proper manufacturing methods to sustain Food Safety and Quality expectations.
- Will collaborate and resolve issues quickly and efficiently focusing on our company's Core Values.
- Perform training for component replacement and repairs with controls technicians and maintenance technicians as necessary
- Perform controls and electronic design reviews of new and existing assets.
- Evaluate controls and electronic component including obsolete recommendations.
- Full understanding of PLC (Allen Bradley: RSLogix 5000, RSLogix 500. AutomationDirect) programming and troubleshooting.
- Understanding/experience with multi-axis robotics Create and troubleshoot analog I/O (A-D, 4-20 ma, 0-5v., etc.)
- Full understanding of HMI interface and programming (Allen Bradley: FactoryTalk View Studio, RSView, PanelBuilder)
- Full understanding of mechanically controlled devices (modulating air operated control valves, servo operated valves and devices, VFD controlled motors, related PID functions, etc.)
- Full understanding and ability to network control components via common communication protocols Strong understanding and diagnoses of mechanical machine operation to insure correct control diagnosis can be performed
- Conduct functional and operational tests to evaluate performance and reliability of critical equipment
- Diagnose, repair, and calibrate process instruments and control systems (electro-pneumatic and electro-hydraulic systems)
- Continually develop equipment and process expertise
- Maintain accurate records and train safe work practices Perform work as assigned by Sr. Controls Engineer
Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in mechatronics, controls or electrical engineering preferred 5-10 years experience in industrial controls Strong, committed, and unquestioned record of safe work practices
Preferred Hardware Experience
PLC - Allen Bradley: CompactLogix, ControlLogix, MicroLogix. AutomationDirect HMI - Allen Bradley: Panelview, Panelview Plus. AutomationDirect: C-More HMIs Communications - Ethernet I/P, Modbus TCP/IP, Serial Variable Frequency Drives - Allen Bradley Powerflex Controls Components: PhotoEyes, E-Stops, Safety Circuits, AC Induction motors, etc.
Additional Responsibilities Conduct equipment audits to ensure excellent maintenance Support Facilities Department goals Support QA, R&D, and Process Systems departments, as needed Work with OEM vendors to continually improve equipment and process operations
Language Skills Must have strong technical oral and written communication skills Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of personnel
Mathematical Skills Excellent math and mechanical aptitude required
Reasoning Ability Strong critical thinking skills required
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
Must be familiar with OSHA requirements (Arc Flash NFPA70E, Confined Space, LOTO, etc.)
Physical Demands Must be physically able to access all areas of facility (perform audits and assist with issues in all facility areas)
Work Environment Cold, damp environment maintained at 360 – 400 F
