JOB DESCRIPTION
- Job Summary
- Develop, maintain, and support automation control systems that are integral to the production process for the assembly of automotive seating and overhead systems. This role is suited for an entry to mid-level controls engineer with hands-on PLC troubleshooting and programming experience.
- Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Continuous Improvement & Quality
Participate in PFMEA analysis.
Support Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, and other continuous improvement initiatives.
Assist in identifying and implementing error-proofing (poka-yoke) solutions throughout the production process.
Participate in 8D or similar root-cause-based problem-solving activities.
Identify abnormalities and support corrective actions to resolve root causes.
- Engineering & Process Support
Support evaluation of process impacts resulting from engineering changes.
Assist in equipment specification reviews and controls design discussions.
Review equipment controls drawings and provide feedback as needed.
- Controls & Automation Responsibilities
Troubleshoot, program, and diagnose PLC systems.
Troubleshoot PLC ladder logic and data handling functions in ControlLogix processors.
Support modifications and improvements to PLC programs.
Maintain PLC documentation received from equipment suppliers.
Maintain backups and archives of PLC programs.
Support and troubleshoot I/O devices connected to PLCs, including:
HMIs
Scanners
Remote I/O
Sensors
Relays
Solenoids
Apply basic electronic and instrumentation principles to diagnose and restore equipment operation.
- Maintenance & Technical Support
Support the Maintenance Department with equipment troubleshooting.
Assist in troubleshooting pneumatic circuits and automation-related equipment issues.
- Qualifications
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The following requirements represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.
- Education and Experience
4–5 years of experience in controls or automation.
Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or related field is a plus but not required.
Experience with:
Allen-Bradley PLC platforms
Studio 5000 software
ControlLogix systems
Experience troubleshooting, programming, and diagnosing PLC systems.
Able to work on C Crew: Fri & Sat - 6:00am to 4:30pm; Sun & Mon 6:00pm - 4:30am
