This position is responsible for supporting manufacturing processes at the Covestro South Deerfield Site. This includes the implementation of electrical control projects to allow for the safe, responsible, and efficient production of both Thermoplastic Polyurethane and Polycarbonate films. This includes the design, development, programming, and maintenance of automated control systems for site equipment and processes using PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA. Key duties include writing code, creating electrical drawings, troubleshooting hardware/software, testing systems, collaborating with other engineers, and ensuring compliance with standards.
The salary range for this position is between $89,500 - $166,100.
This is a full-time role that includes competitive pay, annual bonus potential, generous paid time off, 401K with company match, retirement contribution, tuition reimbursement, parental leave and medical, dental and vision coverage (no waiting period).
Major Responsibilities
Integrates the site's incident free workplace culture into all activities.
Manages mid-level electrical control safety related projects and actively participates in site safety teams.
Investigate and propose solutions for standard safety related concerns.
Management of Change activities for standard process and project activities.
Routinely leads small and medium level electrical / controls projects on time and within budget, participates in large site improvement projects.
Provides necessary electrical engineering support to complex capital and continual improvement projects across the site.
Fluent with industrial electrical standards and ability to become expert in site's electrical distribution system and equipment.
Provides technical support to the production and maintenance teams in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
Develops and utilizes root cause analysis techniques to identify issues with electrical equipment or reliability problems.
Capable team member in a structured problem-solving activity.
Possesses a continuous improvement mindset.
Leads moderate continuous improvement teams / efforts at the site as controls engineering support.
Identifies opportunities for improvement activities at the site Works with Process and Quality Engineering to develop and implement small to mid-size electrical / control projects.
Provides day-to-day support for production troubleshooting during start-up of new equipment.
Update Standard Operating Procedures, as needed, as well as provide operator training activities for electrical / control project activities.
Understand the business and economic drivers for the site and for their projects.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred), with a minimum of 3 years' experience
Preferred Qualifications
6+ years in a manufacturing or engineering environment with some experience with controls is preferred
Professional registrations and/or certifications are desirable
Knowledge & Skills:
Theromoplastic film extrusion and web handling
CAD, Project, SAP desirable
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills.
Practices active listening skills, able to communicate openly and effectively, providing timely and relevant feedback to facilitate appropriate actions by self and others.
Relates well to people at all levels in the organization and possesses a balanced sensitivity to safety, employee concerns, and business needs.
