As a Controls Application Engineer, you will be responsible for developing technical proposals and system solutions utilizing PRISMIC control systems. You will work closely with commercial, tendering, engineering, and product management teams to understand customer requirements and deliver tailored Power Management System (PMS) solutions that meet operational and commercial objectives.

As a Controls Application Engineer, you will:
  • Be serving as the technical focal point throughout the tendering process for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Be developing full lifecycle upgrade, modification, retrofit, and replacement solutions for control systems.
  • Be providing technical support through all stages of the tendering process, from concept development through proposal submission and project handover.
  • Be creating optimal technical solutions that satisfy customer Critical to Quality (CTQ) requirements.
  • Be supporting risk mitigation initiatives, product development activities, lifecycle management, and obsolescence planning.
  • Be producing technical documentation including functional specifications, system architecture diagrams, I/O schedules, equipment lists, and other bid support documentation.
  • Be reviewing customer specifications and providing technical clarifications while identifying opportunities to add customer value.
  • Be identifying and communicating technical, delivery, and quality risks throughout the tendering lifecycle.
  • Be evaluating existing control systems and recommending upgrade, retrofit, or replacement solutions for third-party supplied systems.
To be successful in this role you will:
  • Have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Have proven experience developing technical proposals and commercial offers for industrial control systems.
  • Have knowledge of software-based control systems, industrial communication networks, Modbus, TCP/IP Ethernet, cybersecurity principles, and network redundancy architectures.
  • Have the ability to interpret electrical power system designs, generator control systems, and switchgear configurations while developing technical and functional specifications.
  • Have experience interpreting customer specifications and applicable industry regulations.
  • Have knowledge of IEC 61850 standards for power system communications (preferred).
  • Have awareness of commercial considerations and market-driven product development strategies with a customer-focused approach.
  • Have excellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or related discipline
  • Experience developing technical proposals and commercial offers for industrial control systems

  • Knowledge of software-based control systems and industrial communication networks
