We are partnering with an organization in the Atlanta area seeking an experienced Controller for a contract engagement. This role will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and month-end close activities while providing leadership and support to the accounting team.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting professional with strong technical accounting knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to quickly adapt in a fast-paced environment. This individual will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting critical business operations during the engagement.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting
- Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules
- Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis
- Assist with audit preparation and provide requested documentation
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency
- Partner cross-functionally with leadership to support operational and financial initiatives
- Provide guidance and support to accounting staff as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Prior Controller or accounting leadership experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
- Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills
- Ability to quickly learn processes and operate independently
- Strong attention to detail, analytical, and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
