Job Title: Controller
Department: Finance
Reporting to: Chief Financial Officer
Location: Baltimore, MD. This is a hybrid role with 3-days per week required to be worked in the Baltimore, MD office.
Hours of work: Typical hours of work are from 8:30 AM until 5:00 PM (local time). Additional hours may be necessary as needed. This position is exempt from overtime.
Compensation: $150,000 to $160,000 annually (to commensurate with experience)
Overview:
Finance is the fuel that keeps InVita moving into the future. InVita is looking for a qualified, ethical, and organized Controller. The Controller will play a key role in managing the company’s global accounting operations and financial reporting processes ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting across multiple legal entities and geographies. This position owns the monthly close, revenue accounting, consolidations, audits, and internal controls, and serves as a key partner to the Chief Financial Officer and the finance operation.

Essential Functions:
· Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process; drive consistent close timelines
· Ensure accurate consolidated financial statements across domestic and international entities
· Maintain a single global chart of accounts and consistent accounting policies
· Review balance sheet reconciliations and ensure strong supporting documentation
- Oversee accounting for multiple international legal entities
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll accounting functions.
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Support annual audit processes and coordinate with external auditors.
- Assist with integration of acquisitions
- Ensure compliance with tax filings, sales/use tax, and other regulatory requirements.
- Implement and maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets.
- Partner with Finance on variance analysis, forecasting support, and budget-to-actual reporting.
- Support systems implementations and process improvements, particularly around automation and software integration.
- Supervise and develop accounting staff, fostering professional growth and efficiency.
AI & Technology Expectations:
- Utilize AI-enabled tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot, or similar platforms) to enhance financial analysis, automate routine tasks, and improve reporting efficiency.
- Leverage AI to assist in building and refining financial models, identifying trends, and generating actionable insights.
- Apply critical thinking to validate AI-generated outputs to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with business context.
- Identify opportunities to streamline finance processes through automation and AI-driven solutions.
- Partner with internal teams to support the adoption of AI and data tools across Finance and the broader organization.
- Maintain awareness of emerging AI capabilities and proactively recommend applications that drive value for the business.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA required.
- 10 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including time in both public accounting and industry.
- Experience in the software or SaaS sector strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
- Experience with multi-entity, international operations
- Experience using AI to enhance financial reporting.
- Hands-on experience with accounting systems such as NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or similar ERP tools.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical ability, and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, scaling environment with evolving priorities.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
