OverviewReporting to the VP of Finance, the Controller will play a critical leadership role in CodeRabbit’s growth, owning everything from monthly close to our first Big 4 audit. This is a build role: you’ll bring accounting fully in-house, migrate off QuickBooks, stand up internal controls, and create the infrastructure needed to support a hyper-scaling international business. You’ll also be a key partner to FP&A, Revenue Operations and leaders across the business, ensuring that financial data and operating metrics tell a consistent, accurate story.
ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & CloseOwn the monthly and annual close process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP.
Prepare and review financial statements, management reporting packages, and variance analyses.
Partner with department leaders to review monthly results and key drivers.
Maintain the general ledger, chart of accounts, and accounting policies.
Revenue Recognition & Metrics Integrity
Ensure accurate revenue recognition under ASC 606 across self-serve and enterprise motions, including usage-based billing, plan migrations, contract modifications, and hybrid pricing models.
Partner with FP&A and Revenue Operations to reconcile financial system data to operating metrics (ARR, NRR, cohort retention) and ensure data accuracy across both go-to-market motions.
Business Partnership
Partner with business leaders on budgeting, forecasting and cash flow planning.
Provide financial insights supporting pricing, strategic initiatives and operating decisions.
Support board reporting, investor updates and diligence requests.
Accounting Operations
Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and cash management.
Manage multi-entity and multi-currency accounting, including intercompany transactions and transfer pricing.
Systems & Process Scaling
Bring accounting fully in-house and drive the transition from QuickBooks to a more sophisticated ERP system (e.g., Rillet, Campfire).
Establish, document, and enforce accounting policies and procedures.
Build scalable processes to support rapid growth in headcount and transaction volume.
Tax
Manage relationships with external tax advisors and coordinate federal, state, and international tax compliance.
Oversee sales tax and VAT obligations across jurisdictions, coordinate R&D tax credit studies and other tax planning initiatives.
Internal Controls & Compliance
Design, implement, and maintain internal controls appropriate for a rapidly growing, international company.
Drive the company’s first Big 4 audit to successful completion.
Banking & Treasury
Oversee banking and investment accounts, ensuring timely reconciliations and strong cash controls.
Team Leadership
Recruit, manage, and lead the accounting team, providing mentorship to foster high performance and professional growth.
Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
Required
CPA required; BS/BA in Accounting or Finance.
10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with 2+ years owning or co-owning the full accounting function.
Public accounting experience (Big 4 or national firm preferred).
Direct experience with SaaS or subscription revenue models and ASC 606.
Experience managing external audit relationships, ideally including a company’s first institutional audit.
Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP, including multi-entity and international accounting.
Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational and analytical skills.
Ability to lead and mentor while also rolling up sleeves as a hands-on contributor.
Demonstrated ability to partner with and influence stakeholders across functions and levels, and to identify and drive process improvements.
Proven ability to leverage AI tools to improve accounting workflows.
Thrives in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with high ownership expectations.
Located in San Francisco; hybrid in-office expected.
Preferred
Experience at a high-growth technology or SaaS company.
Experience leading an ERP implementation or migration.
Familiarity with PLG and sales-led go-to-market models operating in parallel.
