The Task At Hand:
This is a true build-and-own Controller role at the center of a fast-moving, multi-brand beverage business!

JuneShine Brands is a portfolio of fast-growing beverage brands — JuneShine, Willie's Remedy+, and Flying Embers — scaling rapidly across multiple channels and markets. We're looking for a Controller who can own our financial operations, tighten our processes, and build the infrastructure we need to support that growth.

You're coming into a company that's moving fast. We've got three brands, manufacturing operations, multi-state distribution, and ambitious growth plans. We need someone who can bring order to the chaos, own the GL, drive the forecast, and work cross-functionally with sales, ops, and leadership to make smart, data-driven decisions.

Who You Are:

  • Detail-driven, hands-on finance leader who thrives in high-growth, complex environments
  • Deep expertise in manufacturing and inventory accounting
  • Comfortable owning the general ledger, forecasting, and month-end close
  • Strategic thinker who builds scalable processes while staying in the weeds
  • Trusted business partner who turns financial data into insight and leads high-performing accounting teams

What You'll Do:

  • Financial Operations & Close:
  • Own the general ledger, AP/AR, cash management, accruals and the full month-end and year-end close across entities
  • Prepare accurate financial statement and reporting for leadership, investors and the board; ensure GAAP compliance and lead the annual audit
  • Manufacturing & Inventory Accounting:
  • Lead manufacturing and inventory accounting, including COGS, inventory valuation, production cost tracking and variance analysis
  • Partner with operations on inventory management, cost control, and manufacturing efficiency
  • Forecasting & Business Partnership:
  • Partner with Sales and Leadership on forecasting, financial planning, and data-driven decision-making
  • Provide ah-hoc financial analysis to support growth initiatives, performance management and fundraising
  • Team Leadership & Systems:
  • Lead, develop, and scale the accounting team across brands and markets
  • Improve accounting systems, processes, internal controls, and automation; support ERP upgrades as needed

Must Haves:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA certification required (open to CMA as well)
  • 7+ years of accounting or finance experience, with at least 3-5 years in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role
  • Beverage, CPG, or manufacturing accounting experience required
  • Strong GAAP knowledge and financial reporting expertise
  • Proven ownership of month-end close, general ledger, and financial statements
  • Experience with FP&A, forecasting, and financial modeling
  • People management experience with a track record of developing accounting teams
  • Ability to partner cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, and Leadership
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to translate numbers into business insights
  • Comfortable in fast-paced, high-growth environments
  • ERP experience (NetSuite, QBO, or similar)
  • San Diego based preferred; open to exceptional remote candidates

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with multi-entity or multi-brand accounting environments
  • Prior exposure to fundraising, investor reporting, or board-level support
  • NetSuite or ERP implementation / optimization experience
  • Multi-state tax and compliance knowledge
  • Experience scaling accounting operations in a high-growth company

Compensation, Perks + Benefits:

  • Compensation:
  • $160,000.00-$165,000.00, per year
  • The final offer will be based on several factors, including experience, skills, and overall expertise

  • Perks + Benefits:
  • Unlimited Paid Time Off
  • Healthcare coverage: up to 90% company contribution for employees and 25% for dependents
  • Voluntary vision, dental, and accidental plans
  • 401(k) with up to 4% company match
  • 12 weeks of paid Equal Parental Leave, $500 Baby Bonding Bucks, and a sustainable baby gift
  • Booch, spirit, beer, and soft good perks
  • And more!

Who We Are

Our Purpose: To make quality, purpose-driven beverages

Our Business: Our vision is to create the next-generation beverage platform, comprising distinct brands, each with its own ethos and purpose. Despite being a multi-billion dollar industry, it lacks options that cater to the next generation of drinkers who will demand more from their alcohol than a mere buzz. Disrupting this industry is a worthy, and massive opportunity.

Our Culture: Our core values are Quality, Transparency, and Team-First. We derive much of our management policy from a book we give you upon hiring, ‘Let My People Go Surfing', by Yvon Chouinard (founder, owner, Patagonia). Our policy is to allow workers flexible hours, provided the work gets done with no negative impact on others. Our ‘let my people go surfing’ policy demands that we hire very unique individuals; those with a combination of self-motivation, self-discipline, and energy.

JuneShine Brands is a purpose-driven organization composed of a diverse and dynamic group of individuals with varied backgrounds, passions, and beliefs. We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone’s unique perspectives are valued. We seek to hire self-motivated, independent thinkers, who embrace challenging the status quo. Join us at JuneShine Brands where you’re encouraged to bring your authentic self to your craft every day. As a proud equal opportunity employer, we are dedicated to ensuring fairness and equity in our hiring practices.

You must reside in the United States to be considered for this position.

This role supports multiple beverage brands within the JuneShine Brands portfolio, including alcohol and hemp-derived THC beverages.
All Juneshine Brands products are intended for adults 21+.
