Since Helion's founding in 2013, we have raised over $1 billion from long-time investors such as Sam Altman, Mithril, and Capricorn Investment Group as well as new investors SoftBank and Lightspeed to propel us forward. Our last prototype, Trenta, completed 10,000 high-power pulses and reached plasma temperatures of 100 million degrees Celsius (9 keV). We are now operating Polaris, our next prototype on the path to the world's first fusion power plant.

What You Will Be Doing:
You will lead accounting and operations team, and ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of all financial reports. You will own month-end close, audits, and statutory filings, and partner cross-functionally on budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling. You will report directly to the CFO and this is an onsite role located at our Everett, WA office.
You Will:
- Oversee the preparation of timely and accurate financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, while managing daily accounting operations
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, and coordinate annual audits and tax reporting
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance guidance to the accounting team
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements while maintaining accuracy and integrity of financial data and systems
- Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and maintain accurate financial records
- Oversee the preparation and submission of statutory reports, audits, and tax filings across relevant jurisdictions
Required Skills:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 12+ years of experience in accounting or finance, including 3+ years of people management
- Experience managing complex financial operations such as revenue recognition, reporting, and internal controls
- Background in manufacturing, energy, or hardware technology industries, with experience in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
- Strong knowledge of technical accounting, GAAP, SOX compliance, ERP systems, and financial reporting software
- Experience managing external vendors such as auditors and tax advisors

Helion's compensation package includes a competitively benchmarked base salary, meaningful equity grants, and comprehensive benefits. Final compensation is determined through a holistic evaluation of your experience, qualifications, and our commitment to internal equity - ensuring fairness and transparency across our teams. We are committed to fostering a fair and equitable environment in every aspect of our operations, including compensation.
This is an exempt salaried role.
