Overview:Responsible for the integrity of financial statements for Boar’s Head Provisions Co., Inc. Provide accounting, organizational, managerial, and technical support for financial and other senior level management personnel.
Job Description:I. Essential Functions:
Oversee Cost Accounting Group, as they:
- Review annual product costing database for accuracy.
- Work with R&D to develop costs for new products.
- Maintain product costing database.
Manage Intercompany Billing Process
- Responsible for the integrity and accuracy of all intercompany pricing.
Manage Annual Inventory Process
- Organize annual physical inventories.
- Coordinate participation with accounting staff and external auditors.
Manage Financial Statement Analysis
- Analyze actual vs. budget P&L’s for Boar’s Head Provisions Co., Inc.
- Analyze and fully understand balance sheet accounts.
- Participate in the completion of the annual operating budgets and year-end financial statements.
- Coordinate with outside auditors to ensure successful financial and 401k annual audits.
Monthly Closing
- Supervise staff in accumulating the information for preparation of monthly journal entries and processing of entries for monthly statements.
- Manage the preparation of all account analysis relating to monthly closings.
- Oversee analytic review of accounts and departmental P&L’s for non-conformance with budgets and 6-month trends.
Annual Closing
- Understand and manage year-end closing process for company in Oracle system.
Policies & Procedures
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures to ensure the integrity of all financial information for responsible companies and maintain internal controls.
- Identify areas of potential improvement and develop systems and procedures to address needs
- Assume leading role in projects relating to accounting systems improvement
Special Projects
- Assume leading role in projects relating to accounting systems improvement and other special projects and assignments.
Commodity Analysis
- Analyze historical trends & explain variances to budget.
- Develop short-term & long-term raw material forecasts.
Leasing
- Ensure lease accounting adherence to GAAP.
- Assume leading role for lease accounting tools.
II. Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- MBA, CPA or CMA preferred
- Minimum 10-15 years accounting/finance experience; including 5 years in controllership role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Must have a solid background with computerized ledger and other accountant applications in a multi-user environment and have ability to work successfully on multiple tasks at same time. Demonstrate high degree of PC literacy (in Windows environment) with spreadsheet, word processing, database, presentation and graphic software.
- Must have strong skills in analysis of financial information.
- An ability to foster relationships with senior leaders in the company is a must. A thorough understanding and background in driving strategies based on managing operating plans/budgets is essential.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, demonstrate initiative, have great attention to detail and proven ability to relate to all levels of management.

- Ability to handle deadlines and multiple priorities in a dynamic high volume environment.

IV. Language Skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to read and write correspondence.
V. Mathematical Skills
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the ability to apply concepts such as fractions and percentages to practical situations as well as be able to read an interpret graphical data.
VI. Reasoning Ability
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the ability to define problems, establish facts and draw valid conclusions and deal with problems involving several concrete or non-concrete variables.
VII. Physical Demands
This position requires: Standing, walking, sitting, use of hands and fingers, ability to feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk, and hear and see over 100% of the time.
