We face challenges with focus, persistence, and professionalism, share knowledge freely, celebrate wins together, and work as one team.
We use a proven operating framework to set clear goals, track results, and keep our teams accountable and aligned.
About the Role
The Controller owns the accounting function for Tide Homes, from the general ledger and month-end close through job costing, WIP, and financial statements. Reporting to the Director of Finance and working alongside the Solé shared services team, you’ll lead the accounting team and make sure every number we report is accurate, timely, and trusted. You’ll give leadership clear visibility into the profitability of each home we build.
Here's the Work You Get to Do:
Month-End Close and Financial Reporting: Own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close, prepare accurate and timely financial statements, review journal entries, accruals, deferrals, and account reconciliations, manage intercompany activity and shared services allocations with Solé and its affiliated companies, and deliver clear financial reporting packages to the Director of Finance and company leadership.
Job Costing, WIP, and Revenue Recognition: Oversee job cost accounting for each home and the monthly WIP schedule, ensure revenue is recognized in accordance with ASC 606, and track client deposits, draw schedules, change orders, selections, and allowances. Partner with project managers and construction leaders to review job profitability, budget-to-actual, and cost to complete for every home.
Team Leadership and Development: Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team, set clear goals and priorities, manage workload and deadlines, provide regular performance feedback, and build a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Internal Controls and Compliance: Design, maintain, and strengthen internal controls, including purchase order and invoice approval workflows and segregation of duties, ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and regulatory requirements, and oversee sales and use tax, 1099 reporting, and other compliance filings.
Audit, Tax, and Lender Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for the annual audit or review, prepare schedules and support for external auditors and tax preparers, and manage reporting for construction loans, lines of credit, and banking partners, including draw requests and covenant compliance.
Cash Management and Treasury: Oversee bank reconciliations, cash forecasting, and cash position reporting, manage client deposits and construction draws, monitor collections, manage vendor and trade partner payment cycles, and support effective working capital management.
Systems and Process Improvement: Serve as the accounting owner of Quick Books for Tide Homes, document and standardize accounting processes in line with Solé’s shared practices, identify opportunities for automation and scalability, and partner with IT and the Director of Finance to improve reporting, dashboards, and data quality.
Budgeting and Analysis Support: Support the Director of Finance with annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis, providing accurate accounting data and clear explanations of results and drivers.
