The Pauma Band of Mission Indians is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Controller to join our Finance Department.The Controller is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations of the Tribal Organization and ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timely completion of financial transactions and reporting. This position plays a key leadership role within the Finance Department and works closely with the Chief Financial Officer, department leadership, auditors, and other organizational stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL AND MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
Responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
The Controller will:· Oversee daily accounting operations and the general ledger.· Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closing processes.· Prepare and oversee financial statements and management reports.· Manage account reconciliations and ensure the accuracy of financial records.· Maintain and strengthen accounting procedures and internal controls.· Assist with preparation and monitoring of the annual operating budget.· Coordinate annual financial audits and prepare supporting schedules and documentation.· Oversee accounting and financial administration related to grants and restricted funds.· Administer and reconcile GWE-related payments in accordance with approved Tribal programs, policies, and procedures.· Assist, train, and provide direction to accounting staff.· Work closely with the CFO to support financial reporting, forecasting, analysis, and organizational financial objectives.Skills Required
- Experience overseeing daily accounting operations and general ledger activities
- Experience leading monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closes
- Experience preparing or overseeing financial statements and management reports
- Experience with account reconciliations and financial record accuracy
- Knowledge of accounting procedures and internal controls
- Experience supporting annual operating budgets
