We’re seeking an experienced, hands-on Contract Controller to join the Quantum team and make an immediate impact supporting a manufacturing client in Noblesville, Indiana. This flexible engagement is expected to last approximately four months, with the possibility of an extension, and requires the ability to work onsite one day per week as needed. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in manufacturing and cost accounting and is ready to jump in, solve problems, and strengthen financial operations.

Position Overview

Reporting to the CFO, the Contract Controller will lead accounting and financial operations, strengthen reporting and internal controls, and provide practical financial insights to business leaders. The ideal candidate is comfortable balancing strategic initiatives with hands-on accounting responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. 

What You’ll Do

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Manage general ledger accounting, reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and financial statement preparation.
  • Oversee manufacturing and cost accounting, including standard costing, inventory valuation, COGS, overhead allocation, work-in-process, scrap, and variance analysis.
  • Analyze margins, labor and material costs, and operational trends, translating findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Partner with operations, supply chain, procurement, and executive leadership to improve financial visibility and decision-making.
  • Strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, documentation, and approval processes.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow planning, audits, tax requirements, and management reporting.
  • Improve accounting processes and systems to increase accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Provide leadership and support to the accounting team and complete additional finance projects as needed.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • At least eight years of progressive accounting experience, including Controller-level or comparable leadership responsibility.
  • Strong manufacturing and cost accounting experience, including inventory, costing, COGS, overhead, and variance analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, close management, and internal controls.
  • Experience partnering with CFOs, executive leaders, and operational teams.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and ERP/accounting-system experience.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and work onsite in Noblesville one day per week.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA or CMA designation.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
  • Experience with process improvement, system implementation, acquisition integration, or financial transformation projects.
