Salary: $120,000 – $150,000 annually
- Lead the Accounting & Finance Department and oversee all day-to-day accounting activities.
- Directly manage and oversee A/P, A/R, Payroll, Contracts & Compliance, and related accounting functions.
- Take ownership of the full accounting cycle and ensure transactions are recorded completely, accurately, and timely.
- Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes, including coordinating and assigning responsibilities to the Accounting Team.
- Process applicable tax liabilities, payments, employee deductions, and other accounting entries.
- Prepare the adjusted annual trial balance and supporting documentation for annual financial statements and corporate income tax preparation.
- Handle additional accounting matters and special financial projects as needed.
- Manage company cash flow and prepare regular cash flow analysis and forecasts.
- Monitor collections, receivables, payables, and overall working capital.
- Lead the annual budgeting process and monitor company performance against budget.
- Provide scheduled and as-needed financial reports and analysis to the President and leadership team.
- Oversee construction accounting and project financial reporting, including job costing, WIP reporting, cost-to-complete analysis, and related financial reporting.
- Review project financial performance and work with operational leadership to identify financial risks, trends, and areas requiring attention.
- Oversee Admin payroll and weekly Union payroll.
- Process and oversee applicable payroll tax liabilities and quarterly payroll reporting.
- Oversee monthly union reporting.
- Ensure payroll systems are properly maintained for salary and benefit changes, wage garnishments, new hires, and other applicable employee changes.
- Ensure applicable construction, union, payroll, and compliance reporting is completed accurately and on time.
- Serve as the primary accounting contact for external accountants and auditors.
- Coordinate annual year-end audits and prepare required audit schedules, documentation, data, and reports.
- Manage Workers' Compensation, General Liability, union, city, and other required audits.
- Assist with insurance renewals and gather required financial documentation.
- Lead, manage, train, and develop the Accounting Team.
- Establish clear expectations, priorities, deadlines, and accountability.
- Evaluate department performance and adjust daily operations when needed to meet company goals.
- Provide guidance and direction to ensure work is performed accurately, efficiently, and on time.
- Develop team members and create stronger processes as the company continues to grow.
- Build a department that can operate effectively while providing reliable financial information to leadership.
- Work collaboratively across departments and demonstrate the ability to take on broader leadership responsibilities over time.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required; CPA or MBA a plus.
- 10+ years of accounting experience, with construction accounting preferred.
- 3+ years as a Controller or higher-level financial leader, including directly managing employees for at least the last 3 years.
- Experience managing accounting/finance for a company with $25M+ in annual revenue and the ability to support and manage multiple departments.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, full-cycle accounting, financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial reporting.
- Construction job costing, WIP, cost-to-complete, union/certified payroll, and prevailing wage experience preferred.
- Experience managing financial, Workers' Compensation, General Liability, union, and other audits.
- Sage 100 Contractor preferred; strong Excel, spreadsheet, and reporting skills required.
- Strong leadership, communication, analytical, organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop teams, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
