ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Spacecraft Operations team is responsible for 24/7 monitor and control of SES's multi-orbit fleet of communication satellites. The incumbent will operate GEO and/or MEO satellites to ensure asset safety, performance to customers, and maximize the spacecraft lifetime. The incumbent should also achieve accreditation and specialization on the ground systems and satellite platforms.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULTS AREAS
- Obtain Spacecraft Controller Ground System accreditatio
- Obtain Satellite Subsystem accreditations
- Attend regular training sessions to achieve and maintain an accreditation level to perform all required functions. Rehearse on the simulator established nominal and contingency procedures
- Maintain technical proficiency by periodically reviewing procedures and other spacecraft documentation, and by attending dedicated training sessions organised by Coaches.
- Draft updates to operational procedures to be submitted for review
- Troubleshoot and resolve ground and spacecraft sub-system anomalies
- Maintain operations activity schedule, deconflict requests, and assure materials are available
- Monitor spacecraft telemetry data, transmit commands as required and perform ranging operations
- Perform training (Coaching) for Spacecraft Controllers on Ground Control and Satellite Systems
- Notify the Sub-System Engineer, Analyst, and/or other on-call personnel of any event not covered in the plans or procedures
- Maximise transponder availability by effectively communicating operational problems to the Ground Operations and Network Operations personnel regarding ground related issues and spacecraft activities and performance.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Science/Engineering and/or 3 to 6 years of work experience in a similar field (a combination of experience and education will be considered)
- Incumbent needs to be able to access controlled technical data subject to US export control laws. Therefore, incumbents should be US citizens (by birth or naturalization), legal US permanent residents (i.e., green card holders), US nationals, asylees, refugees, other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, or who can otherwise meet federal export-control authorization requirements
- Ability to work on 24/7 rotating shifts
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
Preferred
- Experience with satellite and/or ground systems
- Experience with Python, C#, HTML/CSS/JS, or other programming language
- Good understanding of computer, baseband and RF equipment associated with a TT&C facility.
